    Icon8 Aaack! Sound Issues...

    Urg. Last night I was messing around with the SS music files trying add Broken Crescent music for byzantium. after I added the music and changed the desc_sounds_music.txt file, i deleted events.idx and now i have no sfx or voices in the game! (not to mention my music didn't work) even after i restored the original events.idx from the recycle bin the problem persists.

    Can someone point me in the direction of a music editing tutorial?

    Delete (move and backup) events,sfx,voice, and music idx/dat and restart game.

    They will all rebuild. If you edited your music file correctly; everything should work again.

    Tutorial: How To Add In Your Own Music To M2TW

    Following the instructions in above thread, I now have music from Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Last of the Mohicans, King Arthur, Braveheart, the original MTW score and various classical pieces from Wagner, Holst and Prokofiev in my M2TW games and mods. It took a few hours to do it but what took me the longest time was fitting my music collection styles in appropriately with the "mobilize", "tension" and "battle" concepts and cues. To do a better job than just simply dump the whole track into the game I edited most down to smaller segments; I used that old faithful prog "Cool Edit pro" to do that and it worked beautifully. I'm no programming expert though so if I can do it, so can you

    @wolfslayer

    i did that, actually. what happens is when i start SS, it CTDs on the first loading screen. afterwards when i check the sounds folder the .idx's and .dat's are back, and when I load it again it works fine. I still have the same problem with missing sounds once it starts, though

    Nevermind, problem solved. When I was modding the music files, I created a new class for the music called "greek" and forgot to add it to the descr_sound.txt file. This was causing the events.idx and .dat to generate incorrectly. All fixed, though.
