Problem With RTRPE

Hi,

I've got quite a big problem, everytime I click new campaign a little pop up comes up saying please select and item from the list. Then when I quit I got an error message saying and error was found in descr_strat in line 31 column 1. I'm not going to look in there in fear of messing things up some more.

Also 2 questions,

1. On custom battle how come there is two roman factions with exactly the same name and only a few units, with no Cohorts?

2. I saw there was a new historical battle added so I tried the Battle of Lake Trasimere but the game crashes there so I don't want to try any of the others so whats the deal there?

You RTW is not patched up to 1.5 (or if you have BI, it's not patched up to 1.6).

RTR Platinum works with RTW 1.5 or BI 1.6

1. What version of RTR are you playing? The brutii and the senate were included for custom battles only and had basically the same units as the julii(the campaign playable roman faction), but in the last versions of RTRPE these extra factions were completely removed so you should only have one roman faction for custom battles.
As for the cohorts, what do you mean? There are two legionary units(the regular one and the aquila one that has the eagle standard).

2. Magnesia and River Trebia at least should work. I had played them time ago. Some of the others might not work anymore because they use units that have been removed, ownership changed and so on. Not that this can`t be easily fixed if it is like that. Basically each battle has a file descr_battle that lists the units, buildings if there is a city on the map(like in the Siege of Sparta) and factions. You can edit that and replace the units not used anymore with others that are still in use. Even the buildings and factions can be changed with no issue. You just need to be careful so that the units and buildings are in use by the said factions. The battles are in(for the regular, no mod switch version of RTRPE) Rome - Total War/data/world/maps/battle/custom if you want to mess with them. But if you do, make a backup of the files first to be sure.
