Can't see intro movie

I started a new RTW campaign. Not having played for a while, I figured I would see the intro movie. However, there was none! After the loading screen I ws placed directly on the campaign map.

I don't recall doing anything to disable intro movies, because I never do that (I only hit Esc when I don't want to see them).

How can I enable movies again?

I think one or two of the unplayable factions don't have intro movies. Who are you playing as?

Perhaps you accidentally clicked on it? Try restarting your Campaign and see if it will play.

You ahve to go Full Install when you install, I had the same problem. That is, if you are playing Gold Edition.

I have the regular edition, v 1.5, and movies worked just fine before. Now, when I start a new campaign with any faction, it goes directly to loading screen, then the game starts.

I think there's a way to turn off movies, so I was thinking if someone knows that, maybe I could work it backwards.

Also I wonder if it could have anything to do with having installed a new video card (ATI X1650 Pro).

Have you installed any mods? There are mods that have turned off movies. You can turn off movies in the preferences.txt and you can turn off faction specific movies in descr_sm_factions.txt.

The switch to turn off movies is '-nm' which is added to the shortcut target.

Some players had problems playing the movie and the way to resolve this was to upgrade to the latest Wnidows Media Player. However, the game would not start until this was done rather than the movie not being shown.

I have the latest WMP. Nothing is wrong with descr_sm_faction that I can tell. I couldn't find anything movie realted in preferences.txt. No mods.

I can play the movies in WMP though... They actually play better than in-game I think. So, when I feel like seeing an intro, I'll look at it in media Player, then start the game!
