    Default Changing some options

Hey, i havent been here in awhile.....i once again started a game with this excellent mod. I started as Rome.

But I had a few questions about some game options.
    1) Carthage attacks me several times via naval invasions. I know its bit unrealistic to turn it off....but is there a way to turn it off at all?

    2) Any chance to activate some old vanilla units back into XGM via some desc_strat file ? I havent played Rome before in XGM and I really hope to train some units like dogs, warpigs, Arcani ...and all those other rare and unique units.

go to the data folder and then descr_sm_factions

Mmm....well if they are being replaced by other cool units, then its fine with me. I dont want to alter some stuff so the game will be messed up like Synthesis warned me for.
    Thanks for all the help!

I think you might run into a problem with a limit on the total number of units allowed, so if you add some old units you might have to take out some of the others. Get familiar with descr_model_battle.txt and export_descr_unit.txt in the data folder and splice the old vanilla entries into the XGM/data files.

Also, be aware of which faction is getting the units, since they've been changed around in XGM.

If you want a rare and unique unit for Rome, try to get Post Marius reform and the urban barrack, then you'll have your First Legionary Cohort avialable for recruit.
(rare and unique in that you wouldn't want to have more than one per army/stack (you could have more in one stack but...) and they'll still be real nice to have)

If you do that, chances are you could already have a city that can give gold equipment bonus (foundaries, just remember to look for "gray nugget" representing iron resource in your regions on the campaign map they're what allow you to build the final and third blacksmith building)

    Thanks Hurlbut,

But why wouldnt I recruit more Legionary Cohort units in one army? Does one unit own the rest or something?

They give a morale bonus to other units around it. The computer brings more than one to a battle a lot. Always nice to take multiple eagles in one battle.

It's just a self imposed limit on the player's part. Take me for example; My post marius stack would contain 9 legionary cohort and 1 First Legionary cohort plus 10 of any mix (auxilary/AOR units and the general). That's my take on the RTW stack's version of a Legion.

yeah its pretty much as LT has in SPQR house rules. Take in mind tho, that to reflect the numbers of original legions, youŽd have to fill 1 and half stack worth of legion troops and comparable size force of auxilia. I think that fielding 18 cohorts, 1 first and general is doable (tho not practical), but your composition allows to fill the 10 remaining spots with various units and adapting for tactical situations while the core (10 cohorts) is always there to deal with the battle

I went with 10 cohorts because, well, that's exactly same number of cohorts in the Legion.
