    Default preference file

    Hello guys,

    I don't post much on these forums, but now I have an annoying problem. It might be said elsewhere allready, but I can't find anything en I've been searching an trying for 2 hours now. The thing is, my medieval2.preference file does not contain what it should contain. I want the green markers back because I am not that good of a tactician, but all I get is this.

    [video]
    widescreen=0
    [game]
    allusers=1

    Could this have something to do with my computer having vista? I'm not really good with computers so if anyone knows the answer, could you please be very clear.
    Well this was is. Thanks in advance for future answers and again, if it has been answered allready, don't accuse me for not reading the forum, because god knows have.

    btw: SS again proofs it is the best med2 mod around. It's been a while since I played it, and much has changed for the good. New factions, bigger map, new unit cards (my favourite, I prefer the empire building more than the actual battles) and so on. A job well done .

    For me, I edited the file called "medieval2.preference" under the default root folder of game. Open the file mentioned and look for "disable_arrow_markers" and put it like this "disable_arrow_markers = 0"

    Good luck!

    My PC spec: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, Asus P5Q Deluxe, 8Gb, ATi 4870 512Mb, X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro PCI Express and a BIG hard drive.

    Yes I know that is where I have to be. But the problem is that it only shows this:

    [video]
    widescreen=0
    [game]
    allusers=1

    And the strange thing is, when I tried play SS on my brothers account (this is e family computer) I do get the green arrow markers. But that does not really solve my problem. I hate it when I don't understand something, but at least I can play on my brothers account untill someone comes up with a solution for that.
    Thanks anyway acel337. That is the most frustrating thing. I know where it should be, but it is not there.

    u should be able to just copy the file from one account and put it on the other and it should work

    as related to this i just checked and there is something i want to change. im sure there has to be a way to disable cutscenes during battles (break walls, general dying, etc.) there are two lines in the pref. file that i think might do the trick

    event_cutscenes which is activated
    and disable_events which is not

    which one of those could i change to take zhey cutscenes from battle

    That didn't do the trick. Would someone perhaps be so kind to post his medieval2.preference file here? That way I can copy the right file onto my computer. That might do the trick.

    Thanks alot Chimaeira, but I just found this
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=91569

    I tried the second suggestion, with Appdata, and it worked. I was able to open the file and all the right things were in it. That guy is a genius, at least to me. Now I can finally play this awesome mod.
