I need help PLEASE!!!!!

Okay so I originally got RTW like 2-3 years ago. I originally played it on my dads work laptop. It was a 2005, or 2006. It had windows XP. On Christmas of 2007 I recieved an HP computer with Vista. Now before I installed RTW into my new computer let me just say this, I was able to use the mod to play as any faction, and romeshell. Now on my new computer I can't remod my game because when I edit the descr.txt file for the faction mod and save it, it says it can't find the file, and on my new computer romeshell does not pop up. What is wrong with the game? Is it Vista, or what? Please somebody, I need you help!


ps: I can use the cheats for MTW 2, and Kingdoms. So idk whats going on here but I definatley need help ASAP!!!

Since you now have your own computer, my advice is learn how it works includong Vista. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=89969. Although ti says for Medieval, it is also pertinent to Rome. To do anything with Vista, either turn off the UAC or have full administrative rights to everything in it. That including changing files.

Please read the link that irishron has provided, you may find it useful. You may have a better idea of what UAC is and does. You won't get that by not reading it.

One of the features of vista is that it won't use the program files folder for installs. Therefore, many installs that expect programs to be there won't find the files it needs.

But its only talking about M2TW, mine works perfectly. I need help for RTW only.

You miss the point of this. The point is not whether we are talking about M2TW or RTW. We are talking about Vista. ALL games have same problems with Vista. That is why I gave you the thread.
