    Default Stringtable angers me

    simply because when i click on the start button to begin a new campaign, the game CTDs. I check the system.log, and it says 'Couldn't find region name 'Orkney_Region' in stringtable' even though Orkney_Region is in the stringtable, exactly as it should be. So I delete the strings.bin file (imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt.strings.bin) and then attempt to begin a campaign. the same thing happens, but the system.log says 'Couldn't find region name 'Aviemore_Region' in stringtable' (a region I added ages ago [it always used to work up until this error], and the first added region in the text file). With further testing, I have found out that as long as there is a imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt.strings.bin in the text folder, it will say the orkney problem, and if there isn't then it says the Aviemore problem. Can anybody help?

    The problem is not in the strings.bin file. It is in the txt (no further extension) file. Check your entries there.

    the .txt file is fine. that's why I resorted to attacking the .strings.bin

    If the txt file was ok you wouldn't get the error messages. Look for typos in the txt file. Best way is to open descr_regions, descr_strat and imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.
    Then check it one by one:
    An entry in regions HAS to be in imperial but not in descr_strat. (A zero level village will be created - check Egypt the town north of the ivory and gold resources)
    An entry in descr_strat HAS to be in regions and ergo in imperial.

    The easiest way to check is to copy the name from regions and search with it first in imperial and then in descr_strat.

    Trust me, you are going to find a typo or omission.

    would the typo have to be the actual [Orkney_Region] or [Aviemore_Region] line? or could it be somewhere else in imperial_c_r_a_s.txt?

    Do your first two lines in the icrs look like this? The funny sign in the first line is vital!

    ¬
    {Orkney_Region}Orkney Islands
    And the descr_regions looks like this?

    Orkney_Region
    Hofn
    horda
    Norse_Rebels
    77 0 0
    aor_norse
    5
    4
    religions { catholic 70 orthodox 0 islam 0 pagan 20 heretic 10 }
    Last not least your descr_strat should look like this:
    settlement
    {
    level town
    region Orkney_Region

    year_founded 0
    population 1500
    plan_set default_set
    faction_creator norway
    If these three entries agree, than there should be no error.

    You'll also get this error if Orkney_Region appears in the data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\descr_win_conditions.txt.

    descr_win_conditions.txt will trigger an error if it either spelled wrong there or if an error exists already in the other files. For easy checking if that is the case, simply rename the file (not essential to game play).

    I agree with gigantus, you have a typo someplace and you just arent seeing it. I know its meddening, happens to us all.

    On a side note will you please remove some of those !!!!!!! from your location? It screws up formatting by having so many.

    I know it's probably just me overlooking things, but no matter how many times I check, I can't find any spelling errors, and I am usually brilliant at picking up things like that. I'll just have to re-install and hope that fixes the problem, if not, I'll have to redo all of the regions I have added.
