Up down left and right: Ireland. My family comes from ireland, I'm heavily biased pro irish anything. But the irish would be much better represented as some slightly tough rebel lands on the map, and a smattering of mercs recruitable in the area.
Their only real purpose is to make the english early game take a few turns longer, possibly giving the scotts some time to kick ass. Their roster is small enough they arent all that much fun to play all the way through. You become the chosen people of each successive pope, while slowly carving up england. Get bored, start wishing they were cut for roster breathing room.
At least thats how it was for me.
i perfectly agree with you, iscariott, and it is good to hear this from a native irish person.
if have ireland, we could also have the kingdom of serbia or bulgaria, or small crusader states as well, or any random lesser "kingdoms" (with 1 or 2 cities).
so they should be converted to a very tough "rebel" (or free people) territory, that would make the conquest of the island a real pain in the ass, like it really was in history.
Who the hell has voted for the Byzantine Empire? That is blasphemy. Factions from vanilla should in my opinion not be part of the vote.
I am not for removing any faction aleredy in the game. But what the hell, I vote Ireland. They usualy get beaten in every game and in hotseat they are unplayable. Unless all human players start on the other side of the map
I would have to agree that the Irish play the least important role in SS. They never really travel to the European mainland (they do with Allu X's Irish aggression fix) and don't come into contact with with many factions apart from those who invade Britain.
I think another faction on the mainland would play a bigger, more important and decisive role in SS as it would interact more with other factions and may have the potential to expand. Ireland does not do this as it is tucked away, fighting its own little battles against the other British factions.
I like the Irish and have Irish heritage but i think they are the weakest link as a faction in this game. As Iscariott said i think Ireland should start with some hardcore rebels so that they may hold out against any early English or Scottish attacks. Maybe they should have close to full stack armies with silver gear and xp in and around their cities to give the impression that the player is fighting a somewhat organized faction?
I saw, I bought, I played
I'd have to say Ireland. I like them but they offer the lest to the game.

Sicily... I think there are too many Italian factions. Whoever plays as Genoa, Milan, Sicily ?
And Sicily is even a very strong faction AI wise. I never saw the AI being really bad with Sicily and often they are among the strongest, so removing that one would really hurt the game.
Well I voted for ireland (surprise, surprise) not becuase they are a 'waste of space' as the faction has some nice looking units, but simply because they were not
a) a united faction in his period
b) had little influence on global history
So much rather see Georgia or islamic faction as feel these had a greater 'game' impact.
I know some people like playing the faction, but I have yet to see any arguement which says they had a greater impact that say Georgia.
To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer.
Paul Ehrlich
I'd have to vote Ireland also, same reason as most people here. Ireland is also a very weak AI faction afaik, they never seem to get of their island. Well, neither is Scotland, but they are important and needed to spice up Englands game.
Irland.
Just as Quark said. They are nice but don`t bring nothing to the game.
@ Holy Roman Empire
Merge the Knights Templar with Kingdom of Jersusalem....
From the holy bloodline of GodEmperor Nicholas | The last son of Publius

Tominokar | morfeasnikos | alien_t | dome | Octavius
I'd say Knight Templars, uniting them with KOJ to free up one faction space

The thing is where would you put this 'new' faction?
Okay sure enough early era lots of room may make things a bit more interesting, but late era? Where would you put them?
BTW my sister hit vote on lithuania so don't count my vote.
Also no offense to those who want to remove the Templars but that is stupid. Personally it is one of the main reasons I play.
