    Default In-game events

Is there a list of in-game events that happen when playing as Rome? I was playing last night and got the event where Messana revolts to Rome starting the Punic War with Carthage. Are there any more events like this that happen with Rome? I would like to see them and if I know what they are I will play accordingly. i.e. not taking settlements where an event is scheduled to happen, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

They are listed in descr_events from Rome - Total War/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign
And you can find their description in historic events from Rome - Total War/data/text
The locations might be a bit different for a mod switch in the sense that the first file (and maybe the second too) might be in the mod sub-folder.

Now, the question is what mod are you playing? In vanilla RTRPE there are no scripts, no punic war trigger and I don`t remember that message

I am playing RTRPE version 6.0 I'm pretty sure. I was playing last nigh and I had just defeated Pyrrhus and taken Tarentum and Croton, leaving the two other cities between Rome/Capua and south Italy to the rebels. I got a message saying that two Roman spies were captured in Carthage and under torture told the carthaginians of plans of Rome to take Sicily. (It was not the normal "captured spy" event screen). A few turns later, I got a message saying Messana had revolted from the Carthaginians and it was suddenly my city. Very cool as this is basically what happened in real history and started the first Punic War with Carthage.

I just wanted to know if there are other things like this that happen based on history. Will the gauls attack through scripted means like this? Will I be pulled into war with the Illyrians/Macedonians/GCS as well, just like it happened for real?

    There is no RTRPE v6.0.
There are no scripted events in RTRPE as it doesn`t use scripts. None.

Well, I guess I don't know exactly which version I have, I assume it's platinum edition vanilla. I will continue playing and post any other events like this that I run into.

My guess is that you have a mini-mod installed on top or are playing one of the former mini-mods that developed into separate editions. Like Imperator or AE. Btw, how many turns per year do you have?

I can guarantee that this will happen. No scripts neccessary, it always does. Prepare for a tough fight.

My game still has two turns per year. I realize I will be fighting all the neighboring factions eventually, but this war with Carthage was started by the GAME itself. Neither one of us attacked each other with an army or navy. The game awarded me Messana, said some stuff about a revolt from Carthage, and then I got a message saying Rome was at war with Carthage. I just thought that this was strange, but I know the history of this time period and it (sort of) happened like that. (The Syracusians and another rebel army was involved, but the jist of it is the same)

I just thought it was interesting and wanted to know if anything else like this is coming up in my game as I play along.

Similar thing happened to me when Tingi revolted to the Numidians. I was playing as the Carthaginians and we were suddenly plunged into war.

I think it's just the way revolts work, honestly.
