Perhaps an alliance with Islamic faction? or war against Catholic faction. or the pope is just not happy when you're not Catholic, and hence all Catholics are not happy?

In the new system, building religious buildings different to another factions reduces your relationship with them. You are probarly the first to build an orthodox cathedral in the world and as such would have taken two hits to your relationship. Correspondingly, the orthodox factions would like you more. The hit you take is smaller than if you were pagan or islamic.

    Hope thats clear.

Well you could re-write the whole dfs file, thats what I did to try and make the way diplomacy works more realistic .

    Ok,will look into it
is reputation related to this too ? cause it dropped from reliable to despicable in few turns too...all factions refuse to speak with my diplomats.

by the way,I''m not sure it''s too realistic to connect diplomacy with building religious buildings...could you please explain it ?

    thanks for your help.

Ok, your the pope or any other catholic faction. Your whole culture is based around religion and some other chaps are spreading a faith opposed to yours. Now you are regularly told to go off and kill such heretics, but for some reason the Pope is more benign to orthodoxs, despite the fact you have had a great schism and may someday sack their city while on a 'crusade'.

No reputation is not tied to this, just faction standing. Your reputaion is based on your actions such as spyinging, exterminating, breaking any alliances etc. Also if you are playing on >=hard the Ai has a small tendency towards disliking you, as they should pick on you, rather than each other.

Apart from that as Byzantium you will be disliked by Venice, Sicily, Hungry, Turks, Egypt, Mongols and Papal States. However the good news is that Novgorod and Genoa like you. These are all based on historical research.
