    Default Technical question: screen lag

I just upgraded to a new computer and, after having installed RTR Platinum I'm noticing some screen lag while playing battles. What I mean is whenever I pan around the battlefield the screen stutters a bit instead of panning smoothly. I don't remember this happening on my old computer, and my new one is far and away superior in every way.

    Here are my specs:

    Vista Home Premium (64-bit)
    Nvidia 8800 GT 512MB
    AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-core
    6GB RAM
Samsung 19-inch LCD (I don't remember the model)

I tried unclicking some of the more taxing graphics options (grass detail, unit detail, etc.) and reducing unit size from Large back to Normal, but the same problem remains. Any help is very much appreciated.

Does it do this only when you use the keyboard and not when you scroll with the mouse? Does it happen on both battle map AND strat map? If so I have this same problem with RTW (not specifically RTR).

    My specs:

    Nvidia 8600GT
    2Gigs DDR2 800Mhz RAM
    AM2 64 3000+@3800+ speeds.

What drivers are you using? I'm using Omega 169.21 drivers.

When you say lag you don`t mean the opposite as in here, right?

I noticed you both have amd. Other than this I don`t know. Imo you should be able to play with no lags on your PCs. What can cause lag in rtr is the grass which is denser than in vanilla. For the simple version of RTRPE there was an add-on pack that reverted this to vanilla settings.

Well the vanilla grass does make RTR faster and smoother, but the lag is unrelated I believe - because the lag may happen now but disappear in next battle or next turn on campaign, with similar/same positions.... (in battle & campaign for EB; in campaign for RTR).

No, I mean whenever I pan the camera I notice a little stutter as it tries to take in the terrain and marching armies (both with mouse and keyboard, and only on the battle map). Kind of annoying since I just paid quite a bit of money for a very high-end system. It should be able to play any game on the market without problems.

I'll go back to Vanilla grass and see if that helps.

What refresh rate to you guys have your monitors set to?

I use a TFT screen so there is no real refesh rate (as there was with monitors). I think my Dell 24" widescreen is rated at 8ms.

its probably the grass or the detailed shadows...

It happens to me sometimes on both battle and campaign map. My PC is quite old now so I got used to it as this happens quite rarely. Changing video settings haven't helped. Even on lowest possible settings this happens sometimes.

However I have no idea why your such high-end system does this.
