Need help... Renaming the Pope

I need some help and if someone would do this i would profoundly be grateful.
I have the mtw2 game and i want to change the name of the Pope as it is in reality i.e:Urban X Urban XI, Pius VIII and so on.I just don't find the file with the names of characters.Neither desc_names or desc_names_lookup,nor the file names from mtw\data\text(this is missing).I have only the desc_strat in the campaign folder but if i modify Popes name from Gregory to Gregorius VII when i start the game the Pope has no name,all it is written is "of Papal States"...
If someone may help me finding thosefiles and changing them i thank you very much...

Oh well, you have posted that only one day ago and it takes the right people some time to find this thread.

Besides, as you are asking for help at how to mod the game, you should try asking this question at the Mod Workshop forum as that is the one reserved for questions like yours here.

If you unpack the game with the unpacker both files will be in the data folder. Just be sure to read the readme file which is located in the C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\tools\unpacker folder.

man i just can't find that folder inside my game.there are 3 folders:data,miles and packs...

Sometimes you have to create the folder "Tools" in the directory. It is not always automatic. Don't know why.

Hi Pestache, welcome to the forum.

I renamed your thread to hopefully get more hits from the right people, and moved it to the mod forum for the same reason. I hope that helps.

You will have to unpack everything as already said, add the name to the necessary files, and then change his name in the strat file.
