Any luck with Byz Heavy Cavalry?
As the title suggests, has anyone used the Byz heavy cavalry with success. I know they have decent HA, but the HC seem to be outclassed. Too slow to deal with the east and too weak for the west. Any tips or suggestions. Heck maybe I just suckand they are actually good.

The Byzantine Lancers are very under powered but the Latinkon are fairly ok.
Its not until you get Kataphracts that you start to notice a change.

yeah, i use early byzantines cavalry units not to flank but to protect my flanks and save some time for my spearmen to arrive and kick their butts.
i can say that i don't use cavalry as much as i use them for western forces. It my infantry thats the core of my army.

Yes, the Byz infantry is very good and they have good HA units and their cavalry is ok. They have an overall excellent roster except gunpowder units

is it me or do they seem to have less units in S.S 6.0 then 5.1?

Haven't played them in 6.0 but I'm gonna start a campaign with them soon after I finish or get bored of my Lithuania campaign

You don't field an army of supermen, you field an army focusing on combined arms. (as much as all you Byzantine fans would want a death dealing roster of invincibility and as successful as KK has been in making them supermen)
Save your lancers and your heavy cats for the countercharge - let your archers take out the enemy from a constant distance and absorb the enemy only to engage and hold them with your infantry. Then charge in for kills with your lancers and attack enemy cav engaged with spearmen using your mace-wielding cats.
By nature, your faction is a combination of West and East, but masters of neither West nor East. Don't send your horses to deal with enemy horses - while this works in history and reality, it doesn't in the game and only causes you massive casualties, especially when charging a superior charge of Western knights or chasing uncatchable Turkish horse archers.
