Hotseat defending

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a way to make it so that yu can defend in the hotseat campaign? It really annoys me that my settlements get assaulted and i cant even defend them. Ive lost three so far in a Templar-France campaign. I know that there is a certain line that you can add to the medieval2.preferenc.cfg file, but it is almost empty (dont know if that is normal) and the one for Stainless Steel has a much different format, so i dont think the line will work if i add it. Should i just add the ine anyway, or do i throw it in the medieval2 file, even though there is hardly anything in it? Or do i add a completely different line?

by the way, i have version 1.4, but i read the 1.5 patch description, and i didnt remember seeing anything about this.

goto your Med2 main folder and open medieval2.preference.cfg using notepad

copy and paste this over the hotseat section...

[hotseat]
turns = 0
scroll = 0
autoresolve_battles = 0
disable_console = 0
disable_papal_elections = 1
save_prefs = 1
update_ai_camera = 1
validate_diplomacy = 1

then add your medieval2.preference.cfg read only ability

thats the problem, in the original medieval2.preference.cfg file, there is no hotseat section. this is my entire medieval2.preference.cfg file:

[video]
widescreen=1
[game]
allusers=1

should i just put it in there anyways?

put hotseat section after [game] section end
