    Default New CTD afte fix no.5

    Hi LOTK, sorry to bring a bad news. New CTD
    I started a campaign with English faction after patching fix No5.
    After around 20 turns, I got CTD in AI's turn.
    I used 'toggle_fow' and found that a mystery army of rebel faction caused this CTD.
    Look at the following picture

    In AI's turn, there is an army coming out from City of Bruges. Then the army disappeared in A point. After one second, there is an army coming from B point suddenly. (this army has the same "power bar" with the army which just disappeared. I think that they are the same army) The army then walked to C point to merge with an existing rebel army. After the merging, CTD immediately when the mystery disappeared.

    Please note, there is no 'green-walk' line shown between B point and C point. Since the mystery army created and disappeared in AI turn, I don't have chance to know the detail of this army. Actually, I never had CTD so early in the campaign (20 turns).

    LOTK, hope you can fix this when you get time. However, do you exams first good luck

    the rebels are playing with me!
    thanks for the report Tommy.
    i wish i have enough time to work deeply,and solve this problems.
    what about your method in avoiding CTDs? is it working with this? i need to know the details of this army.

    The toggle-fow method can solve this CTD. (the mystery army will go somewhere else instead of merging with other other). However, another CTD happened when Rebel AI turn is over. That CTD can not be avoided unfortunately. I will start a new campaign to see if I can figure this out

    I did some research. I loaded my previous back-up saving file (around 10th turn). The game can not continue in AI's rebel turn either. However, it was good when I played this campaign yesterday (without loading any save file). I recalled the previous CTD in my first post also happened after I loaded my saving file.
    Thus I suspect
    1. Probably the game can not be saved properly. Some data has been changed when we saves the game.
    2. The saving file can not be loaded properly. Some data has been changed when we loaded the saving file.

    That's just my thought. All my previous CTD happened sometime after loading the saving-file.

    By using disable_ai. I am able to know the detail of the mystery army.

    1 Rebel Mailed Cavalry
    1 Peasants
    2 Front line solders

    Probably that's because of my computer setting as mentioned. That's why I have weired tree . I am using Lenovo T60 laptop.

    I was wondering, do the old saves work with the new fix? Because I've finally got a campaign that's been running for a while now without any CTD's with hotfix 4.

    the latest fix doesn't change anything in the strat file so you can cotinue your campaign that you have started with FIX4.

    I re-installed RTW1.5 and then RM 2.0 with Hot Fix 5. Starting a game on Friday, I got NO CTD till now after around 80 turns. Looks that No 5 fix is working well after the fresh installation.

    yea,the latest Hot fix No.5 fix solved problem of the khan's army,the problem now is with loading saved games.
    when did you have the CTD? after loading saved game,or by continue playing?

    In my previous campaign, I started my game in my friend's home with my laptop and saved the game in Turn 15 and Turn 20. Then I went back home and loaded 'Turn 20' and hit the 'end turn'. Then, game CTDed in Rebel's AI turn.

    Then I loaded the earlier Turn 15 saved file. After hitting the 'end turn', game CTDed in Rebel's AI turn. I had no CTD when I played in my friend's home (From starting of the game to Turn 20 without loading saved file). That's why I thought that something wrong with 'saved file'

    As I mentioned, in order to confirm this, I re-installed RTW1.5 and then RM 2.0 with Hot Fix 5. Starting a new compaign on Friday. I got NO CTD till now after around 80 turns. I will keep gaming and save-loading to see if it is really because of ''saved file".

    Hi LOTK. My new campaign CTDed again.
    For now, I found that

    1. Some of saved-file causes CTD. But not all of them.
    2. loading a "bad" saved-file. After hitting 'end turn', CTD when in Rebel's AI turn. (sometime CTD is caused by army on land. Sometime CTD is caused by navy in the sea)

    I can use 'disable_ai' to disable AI to avoid CTD. However, game is not a game with out any AI move. Thus I am wondering if you know how to disable Rebel's AI only, so that I can continue the game and do more investigation.

    I did a little bit further investigation on Rebel faction.
    On original descr_rebel_factions.txt, I found some thing like

    ;Duplicates of veneti. Can't remove as it breaks the save game
    rebel_type VenetiII //gauls
    category peasant_revolt
    chance 0
    description Veneti
    unit barb peasant slave
    unit barb infantry slave
    unit barb infantry slave
    unit barb infantry slave
    unit barb naked fanatics slave
    unit barb naked fanatics slave
    unit barb cavalry slave
    unit barbarian rebel general

    But in descr_rebel_factions.txt of RM, I didn't find anything like
    ";Duplicates of veneti. Can't remove as it breaks the save game"

    I have no knowledge on the coding of RM. I am wondering if that's problem.
