As many people are having issues with Stainless Steel I want to research if these problems have anything to do with the Kingdoms patch 1.5.

I will wait until the weekend as i've only played 30 turns in the campaign. But as far as I can tell no issues here. And i haven't installed the patch. And really if you see how many people have downloaded SS i think the percentage of trouble isn't that high.

My thoughts exactly, it might have saved us problems with the mod.

By unselecting all campaigns only a registry entry will be added (AFAIK)
Then you can directly copy the Kingdoms.exe from the CD without having to install any campaign.
This is however rather difficult for unexperienced players and thus we recommend installing atleast one campaign to prevent confusion.

It then actually only patches the game and changes files so the game "knows" Kingdoms is intsalled, even if it isn't practically. So you then are able to use kingdoms mods like ss1.6.

What more, i could make an installer for SS that would check if kingdoms.exe exist, and if not then copy it to the folder. However, KK uses quite a poor setup maker but i guess i could bribe him into doing the setup for 6.1 for him, and add registry for steam, as well as the above check.

I have patched to Kingdoms 1.5 and I don't have any glitches or errors.

Didn't really see the reason to upgrade since I only play SS now and not vanilla.

You need atleast 50 posts to vote on a poll. Kingdoms automatically installs 1.4.

I got that too, although I don't remember updating to 1.5. Really ruined the game for me, it feels like I'm cheating
