Just wondering which is more useful. I always use 4 seiges towers and 2 ladders attacking on differant sides to split up the defenders.

I used to use siege towers but the damn things keep catching on fire. So now I mainly use ladders.
all of my sieges look like this: 5x ladders and thats ityou can get them really fast to the walls (no pushing), you can get really fast on the walls (no climbing to the top and massing and waiting for the gate to open) and they are not flamable.
Ladder cause your units to panic more often. Siege towers have a massive force that comes out - and they make good ground. Ladders on the other hand, you tend to lose a lot more men and they tend to have more difficulty gaining any real 'ground' on the wall.
You have to think about the space when they come up the ladder...if person A comes off the ladder, chances are he'll get stabbed in the back much easier than if a ton of guys come out and effectively make a 'wall' of shields and swords. While siege towers catch fire, they are so much more effective at taking walls.
4x ladders
They close my modication thread DWWTW ='( please help evryone.
Siege towers are more effective, aslong as they don't catch fire, a couple of siege towers, and several ladders to flank is pretty good, or you can rush with the ladders first and maybe lure some defending units away from the place where you unload your troops from the siege towers.![]()
I use 4 ladders and 2 seige towers usually.

Depends on who I'm fighting and how good their troops are. If I'm expecting to have to deal with a bunch of Hashashin up on the walls, I'll bring towers. If I am going to have to fight some lousy militiamen, I bring ladders.
Tower are strong and provide good ground(if they dont catch fire) and ladders are quick, but not as combat effective, although they can flank around the sides which a tower cant do so well because its very slow.
Its a tactical decision really, or a matter of preference, i myself use 2 siege towers for a frontal assault and 2 or 3 ladders to go around the side depending on my army size and composition.
Barging in through the gate is usually a bad decision anyway although i mostly breach the gate with a single battering ram.
I use siege towers mostly, but always a couple of ladders just in case, especially if I'm assaulting a fortress or citadel. Siege towers mean less casualties as you actually get to the walls, becase most arrows bounce off the tower without even getting near the men.
