A messenger arives at Vitruviusis camp witha letter
Senetor Lucius and the senetors of rome wish to have an update on romes standing forces on the greek front as soon as possibel
A messenger arrives at Spurius' headquarters in the town of Patavium...
Commander Spurius Vitruvius, a letter from Rome.
The election results
Spurius Vitruvius Habitus (in absentia) elected senior consul by popular choice.
Servius Labienus Africanus (in absentia) elected your junior.
Quintus Julius has been assigned Propraetor of Corsica and Sardinia.
Marcus Lucretius Falco will be Praetor for this term.
The tribunes are as follows.
Caius Pontif
Lucius Aurelius Lepidus
Tiberius Octavius Ulpianus
Marcus Aelius Triarius
Spurius reads the news...
"Excellent," he thinks to himself, "excellent"
Caeso Decimus Crassus (32)
A messenger arrives in camp, delivers a letter to a centurion, then scampers off into the woods
Consul,
The Senate and people wish to congratulate you on your most recent victory. May Mars help you with your current endeavors! In the streets the people chant your name and eagerly await the arrival of more news from the front.
Based in camp all you could see coming over the hills was the long line of marching soldiers.
The VI Ferrata led by Servius Labienus Africanus.
The men ran to the ramparts to see the legion coming over the bridge and into sight.
The line extended for miles marching 4 by 4.
The sound of the trumpets blaring away.
And on a the blackest of horses came Servius Labienus Africanus.
His cloak not red but made from the finest tyrian wool that it shone black in the light.
As he entered the camp he went straight toward the command tent...
Salve Spurius Vitruvius.
How good it is to see you again.
Have you heard any news from Rome?
My scouts tell me we have quite a gathering at our border.
Over 10000 men they say.
But first, how have you been keeping?
I do wish there was something we could have done to avert your brothers untimely death.
A messenger arrives.
Salvete Consuls,
I hope this letter reaches you in good health. But as you both know this is no time for chit-chat. Some senators are wondering aloud what your strategy consists of. If you would be so kind as to send this messenger back to the senate with your report posthaste. If not, I doubt you will gain enough support to start your campaign.
Valete, Marcus Lucretius Falco

It would seem Spurius that the senate is ruled by cackling old women.
Can they not leave well enough alone.
Every time I walk in those senate halls, I do it for Rome.
I do it because I am roman.
I have given the last 33 years to Rome and the Republic.
They can leave me alone to do my business.
Either that or I will have them here on my front line...
"Ah Lebienus! A beautiful sight Legio VI Feratta is! Yes there is a massive Greek army within our borders as well, I will need your help. It is a stroke of luck they are just a frew miles within our borders, we can attack and show the Senate our... determination... As for my brother, I admit grief overcomes me sometimes, memories of our childhood too. but I am mostly angry, enraged even. Servius mark my words, every Greek that takes arms against us.... will die!"
Caeso Decimus Crassus (32)
We have to reform the camps.
Your camp must come down.
We can rebuild about 3 miles inland on opposite sides of the road.
I past a good clearing with enough trees to build an extra camp.
This way we will both seem them coming down the road.
Better that way for support purposes as well.
The situation so far......
A messenger from Quintus Julius comes in
Hello, congratualations on your position. As you know i am the govenor of Corsica and Sardinia. I would like to send 2-3 reinforcement armies to you. Will you accept these, and i would be honored if i could lead them.
may Rome be great,
Quintus Julius

A messenger comes riding into the camp, covered in mud and dirt. He dismounts and runs into the Senior Consul's tent.
"Consul! A message from the Senate. You have been granted imperium to attack the Greek province of Illyria. An additional clause states you are allowed to attack enemy armies in neighbouring provinces and you are allowed to take the citie of Segestica."
Spurius this is good news indeed.
We had never intended on expanding the republic although the senate decrees it so.
It will make our borders even harder to defend but we have our imperiums.
"Yes, I suppose that is all that matters... We need to rethink our strategy. If we are to take Segistica I would recommend we bring up our onagers, they will be useful, and end the siege quickly. Speed is still of essence, friend. We must fight our way to Segistica and set up defenses quickly, before the Greeks have a chance to react. Defenses will be difficult and will require the command of an extra legion... I suggest the Home Guard legion, they are fully trained and the Senate has deemed them useless for Italy."
Caeso Decimus Crassus (32)
Is there no other legion?
Surely we must have one that we can use without taking Italies only defence.
BTW: We have four legions as consuls. We dont need to request any as we have what we need. We just deciding where to pull them from.
