    Default somewhat hostile takeover

I was wondering if it's possible to take over another country through marriage to a princess.

I'm playing as Scotland and married the French princess to my heir but the small French family tree got me wondering; if I managed to assassinate the rest of the tree, which is the King and his son, or someone else did me a favour and killed them in battle would I take over the French territories since the only remaining blood heir to the French throne is my Prince's son or would the faction just cease to be?

I'm sure it would die out, but it would be great - it is purely aethestic as it says in the trait "[Faction] Relations - no effect". I like it when you get personal unions, and inheritence of kingdoms in EUIII.

I was just thinking about this scenario yesterday. I personally think it should make the kingdom your vassal. However, females cannot inherit sovereignty and therefore she's not even considered as an heir, which means that her husband isn't either, and therefore it's impossible.

    Sad, huh?

uh.. non family members can be a heir right, as long as they're a general. But yeah what the OP described is impossible anyway.

No. Only family members can be heir. They have to be in the family tree.

Too bad the princes of such relationships can't decide they like their mothers faction more than their fathers.

it'd be cool, but huge game-changing things like that and highly random events usually aren't a good idea...

Nah. Cities don't need a governor to operate smoothly (game-wise, of course), so a vassal state shouldn't need a faction leader lol.
