be very aggressive, it's the only way you'll survive.

or, you could pack the bags and move to a place with lots of rebel regions to settle down.

Blocking bridge doesn't work for some cities .. because there's no bridge to defend.

I can see why you recommend 'be aggressive' tactics .. but, there's so much i can do when there is non-stop stream of enemy forces coming for my castle. I mean ... i gotta defend it too

At the moment, I'm putting all my hope on the crusade that Pope declared against Gaza. I'm just desperately waiting for western crusaders to arrive at my region.

Templars start in a place like this.

Antioch, Acre, Jerusalem, Damascus, and Aleppo all start out as rebel.

true, but with the fatimids knocking on the door, it's not a friendly atmosphere. they could head to bulgaria or scandinavia or some other place with several regions to take and no aggressive non-catholic faction bordering the lands

Yea that would work out as well.

Too bad there is no horde function like in RTW:BI. Expanding is hard enough with those crappy spearmen they start with.

I have played Templars before like this. It did suck because of the money script enabling the computer to take huge losses and never stop sending armies. Expand against the turks and take land up north up to Russian south lands. But you really will just get fed up fighting round after round of long battles. I know I did.

don't play defensive, it won't get you anywhere. in my last templar campaign by turn 34 we had wiped out the fatimids. and by 54, the turks fell underfoot as well.

difficulty affects lots of things... the computer gets extra armies and money on high difficulties, diplomacy is made to heavily favor the computer factions, and things like moving your capital start costing a lot(5k)

I've found the fatimids to be the most aggressive faction in the game... they keep sending huge armies every turn. What you need to do to conquer them is create a few armies and blitz all their major cities and castles using ships. Alexandria, that other one south, jeruzalem, gaza. That'll cripple them somewhat atleast.
