Default Been playing and got a few questions ;)

Ive started two campaigns, cause in vanilla there is just smth missing for both my favorite factions (or three, lol). I actually started Greek camp, because I always missed a shock troop variant in vanilla (hypa guys or anything else non phalanx), and also a Roman campaign. Playing both on Hard / Medium (im starting, pyrhhus pretty kicked me on hard battle diff), I have feeew related questions.
first - im playing with unit size I think huge (102 unit hastati platoon ) hope its correct, couldnīt really find the best size to play on.
As Roman - what would trigger Marian reforms and also I think ive read bout named legions, if so, anybody care to explain a bit?
As Greek - Is it better to first conquer Macedon and then move onto Seleucids, or should I try to hold both lines? (seleucid stacks are pounding my hoplites). And also, when the hypa guys will come to be available for training

maybe ill come out with more, mod is great tho!

Your playing on large size; huge = 202 per Hastati

It is possible to do both macedon and Selucids in asia minor though not recommended.

Hypaspists are at recruitable once your city reaches 24,000 population and you have built the correct goverment building and barracks I think.

Marian reforms = roman culture faction builds imperial palace in an italian province not including rome.

Fix the problem, not the blame!

As Unknown said - you are playing with large unit size wich is the recomended one.
The hypaspists require lvl 4 barracks
Not sure if you can hold on to both Asia Minor and Greece on hard settings (i guess that deppends how experienced with RTW you are) Otherwise it's duable and i actually recomend not to give ground.
Named legions - you need BI for that feature. Basicly when you train legionary first cohorts in different cities they will have different names like Legio X Alaudae, legio Parthica and so on. I'm not sure wheter all names and locations are in the readme, but you can search the XGM forum for Named legions. There is a thread with all names and locations, It would be good if it get's stickied.
If you have more questions - go ahead.
Edit: Here's the thread - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...=named+legions there might be some changes though

Thanks to unknown for clarification bout the reforms, units and hypasts
    and to Kara as well
ill add - been playing RTW for very long time, got me platinum with BI and Alex as well, tho im using BI exe to run the game. About the diff - the battles are okay on medium, yet the campaign diff is givin me creepz Seleucids are somehow at bay, but I managed to hold only 1 of 2 cities in Asia Minor, tho im transporting troops via sea to reinforce ever besieged city there. Macedon isnt much trouble now, my greek army is laying waste to them (ill give screen of my army composition later, nothing big, but it runs em over).
Romans have it tougher tho - carthage, gauls, rebels, greek independent, and only money for 1 full stack and some garrison troops. BEen only like 10 years tops into campaign and got silver chevron some troops and gold equite units (trying to avoid retraining bug so I merge units). But holding up. The fact i have to build imp palace somewhere else isnt really good I guess, I was saving Rome population for the fact of imp palace to show up in build roster, but as it seems, I gotta start saving somewhere else.
    Got some tips guys?

Some tips? An easy way to get more population in one of your cities is to send an arny to a larger enemy city and before the battle move all governors from your towns except for the town you want to get bigger population. Then attack the enemy city and enslave the population. This way only one city will get the pop boost.
For the strategy - my roman campaigns have showed that early on the gauls are eager to sign cease fire, so i capture Genua with the small northern army and then offer cease fire and trade rights, they agree. This way by leaving Patavium and Mediolanum alone, you are making a buffer between you and the germans. At later point the germans will be attacked by Scythia an will have hard time to fight you as well. Carthage should be your first priority after destroing the roman rebels and the greeks in Italy. Then the world is your oister or sea food by choice.
Oh and don't forget to build temple of Vulcan in Arretium - this is the only city in Italy that can build foundry

Yeah seems that later on pretty much HA will pwn? I read some AARīs and lotsa ppl get kicked badly by Scythians and probably chance of wiping them out now is very little...as for Gauls - they sign ceasefire and attack turn later, same for Carthage. Their armies pose little threat at all (carthage sends 300 men strong parties, but naval invasions are cool to watch ), and gauls are apparently troubled somewhere else...I have taken italy finaly, and im about to move onto Sicily and today austria border soon (Alps)

oh and - hwo does moving governors away help me in the pop boost?

When you enslave a city it's population is distributed between all your towns with governors. If you keep a governor in only one city than only this city will get the slaves.
