    See the overview it doesn't appear to allow you to play over the internet, but rather over LAN. Someone might alter the code to allow for that though.

    1.0 OVERVIEW
    ============

    The Hotseat Launcher simplifies hotseat campaign games over multiple computers sharing a mapped network drive. This is achieved by automating hotseat save game file management and providing a streamlined interface for hosting, joining and playing hotseat games.

    Although this version of the Hotseat Launcher is limited to requiring a locally mapped network path, it serves as a proof of concept for a more advanced server/client hotseat tool over LAN and internet. The source code for the Hotseat Launcher is supplied with the hotseat launcher installer for other people to use and extend for such a purpose.

    Technically the Hotseat Launcher can be used over the internet with some extra work. It requires that all players have the same network path mapped to their local machine. This could be achieved with a VPN or using some web drive application to map an FTP or WEBDAV path to a local drive letter.

    Hmm... that would certainly be interesting. And it may take the guess work out of getting set up, but if players do not remain connected the entire time then how do you pass turns? Most of our hotseats involve turns being saved on the forum for later download as we all work and live different schedules.

    As long as the transfer path (mapped network/ftp/webdav path) remains connected, players do not need to remain connected. The Hotseat Launcher keeps a local copy of the players data and will keep checking the transfer path to determine the faction turn. If it is the players turn, it downloads the save game, notifies the player and enables the player to start their turn. Once the player ends their turn, the save game is uploaded to the transfer path for the next player and the process continues.

    This allows all players to run the Hotseat Launcher whenever they like independently of the other players. In effect it is automating Play by Email and removing the need for players to manually copy save games and configs and having to tell the next player when it is their turn.

    I’m a complete n00b in what concerns to computers and internet. I have no idea what’s a webdav server or how to make the Hotseat Launcher to work with ftp.
    In google I found a tutorial about how to make the program work with Hamachi. But…I donīt trust in this method because it requires the firewall deactivation :hmmm:.
    So…could someone write a “step-by-step” tutorial about how to make the Hotseat Launcher work with a webdav or ftp server? I would appreciate that !
