    Default A couple of questions

I just downloaded 6.0 and its awesome. I have a few questions.

    1. What is up with all the civil unrest? I lost 3 towns to unrest in turn 6-7. Is that common for the HRE?

    2. How do I disable the swaying trees? Its slowing the campaign map down lots.

Thanks you very much to any who answer.

For your second question, go to the graphics options menu and turn off campaign shadows.

For your first question... nope, it's not so good. Try to play with taxes, or set the balance to growth policy if needed.

HRE is by design going to have a hard time with unrest at the beginning, as they did historically (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_I..._Roman_Emperor)

I really wish we could portay internal conflicts better, but I might need to increase the Ai_boost level for stopping rebellion, or try and add in the traits through the campaign script so they only occur if HRE is controlled by a player :hmmm:.

Personally, I think an unstable AI HRE is great! The HRE as a faction has been a pet-peeve of mine from the beginning (though making the area "rebels" is much, much worse)... I'd much rather see the HRE unstable and picked on by its neighbors than become the superpower it usually becomes in vanilla or other mods. Seeing the HRE conquer France, Venice, Poland, and Hungary was exactly the kind of thing that made me just stop playing vanilla or early mods of MTW2...

I like the idea of having an AI that's capable, but I really wouldn't favor making every faction equal. If a player wants to make Ireland into a powerhouse then that's they're right, but seeing the AI do it should be very, very rare IMHO. Ideally we should usually see the factions which historically expanded do so and those who just held on to their homeland do that, with enough randomness that sometimes we'll see something crazy. Instead (and I haven't played 6.0 long enough to know if it still holds true), crazy is the rule. Sicily nearly always forms an empire in Africa, the Seljuks push north through the Caucuses instead of striking at the Byzantines or the Holy Land, Novgorod forms something looking like a united Russia before the Mongols even show up, etc.

Maybe everyone else has a different vision for the ideal, but I don't want every faction on an even plane, expanding out in every direction ASAP. This should feel like the middle ages, not like a game of Risk....

lol ive been having issues with my HRE game as well, yea, 2 generals that i started with and my faction heir got the rebel trait n your not my king trait which caused them to take some cities with them. so i reloaded n saw those traits n moved em out of cities and now the cities are fine.
