    Default ".cfg" file help

I've noticed this problem in several of the mods I've tried to use. When the download is complete and I'm actually installing the mod, the directions tell me to open up and edit a .cfg file.

The problem is, I can't actually access the .cfg file. Whenever I try to open it, it tells me that it can't access the file, and it continues to point me on to a web site (http://noeld.com/download.htm#DynSite) that doesn't seem to offer what I need.

I have download Patch 1.3 for M2TW, and I'm currently using Vista. Can anyone help me?

Open notepad and then open the file through notepad and let me know.

It did work, and it opened up smoothly. Thank you, very much.

However, it refuses to open it when I click on it, even though it opens other programs fine.

Notepad only reads text files like .cfg, .txt, .ini, .bat, and others. These are all text files and these endings tell the hardcode what they and how to use them.

Right click on the file, choose properties, then you should see where it has Open With, and a change button. Change it to notepad and everything .cfg will open there. This is with XP so it hopefully will be similar to Vista.

Another problem: It refuses to save the .cfg file after I open it, whether I've edited it or not.

Right click and select properties, uncheck Read Only. Edit the file. Save the file. Right click again and recheck Read Only.

The read-only box was unchecked- I was unclear. Whenever I try to save, it says that it cannot create the file, and asks me to check if the file name and path are correct. (I have, and they are.)

Need administrative rights to change files. Turn off the UAC. http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...sta_ff_uac.asp. This is a site on how.
