Default Should I switch from Roma Surrectum to Invasio Barbarorum?

I have been playing RS for a while now and found it much better than RTR.
For some reason battles are just much closer and often really exiting. But after shortly playing BI (vanilla) and seeing some movies about attila, I like to play something about the late roman empire. Thats when I remembered that IB is a really great mod.
I played IB a longtime ago, and found it great, but it had a lot of CTD's on my computer so I uninstalled it soon.

What i wondered is, that if i go to IB with RS expectations, what will my experience be?
Is the gameplay somehow worse than RS?
    Did anybody make the switch?

Profit: EB is better than RS, or any RTW mod out there.
And yes IB has greatly improved and new and better versions are in development.

Hello and welcome to this forum Claagent11. I'm a fan of RS myself, too; and I play both mods, Actually the four of them (RS and the three different versions of IB). The gameplay of the IB mods are different than any RTW-based mod because of a simple reason: the amount of money at your disposal in IB is low in comparison to RS due to the pitiful economic reality of the Late Empire. The battles, nevertheless are epic and it has its own feeling and 'vibration' (i'm not sure that's the word I'm looking for). To summarize, both mods are different but beautiful in their own ways. I'd say that IB is by far the best mod about the late Empire out there. I hope this works.

I have 2 Roman mods on my PC: RS and IBFD (with the submods as well). With the latest submod on it's way I daresay that between RS and IBFD there will be no time period uncovered!
Yes, I hate the fact RTW is out and I still have a Japanese title. Come on now admins- let's get with the program.

When Rome Medieval is finished, and RS2 is finished, RM, RS2 and IBFD will be the only three mods I'm ever going to need.

Thanks. I'm convinced. I look forward to IB.

I thought RS2 is a myth. Is there a release date?

So there are 3 IB mods, i suppose there is none that is the "best", I just try them all.

How is the performance. My compuyter could barely run RS, but BI vanilla just fine.

RS2 will be released when it's ready.. the team is working faster now than ever before. Everyone on the team is as anxious as you, believe me.

You're right about the submods, they're all quite good. I find myself playing Rio's most lately because of the setup in Britain, but I go through phases. They're all great!

As for performance..hm... RS ran better than any mod for my PC, and IBFD runs a bit slower for me. The difference isn't to noticeable though and my computer is falling apart, so it might just be me.

Like I always say with threads such as this one, don't think about 'switching' mods, think about discovering another great one. We're lucky in that the RTW modding community covers such diverse topics!

In case you weren't aware too, you can copy-paste your RTW-BI folder (patched) and then install IBFD to that directory, and keep other mods. At one point i had 10 mods... atm RTW isn't installed.

    Anyway happy gaming!
