Im only on turn 23 with the Teotonic knights an all ready im down to 3 seltlements had a hard time with novogrod an norway an both of em made expansion impossible im broke an almost not able to gather enought strenght to take back any good settlements to gain profit... not that im dead but still.. cant remmember the last time i had such a hard time

I've never been defeated so badly by the AI before.

I think the reason is that in vanilla, after you conquered a certain point of settlements your treasure would just be rising, in SS the economy is very tricky to control, so you cant just go out building a lot of armys etc... cause you will be broke.

Right now im on a balanced campaign, im England, i never really play them, but the new skins made me I started the campaing and decided to become lord of Ireland too, as i felt the Scots really respected me, cause they went expanding on Denmark. So i conquered a settlement in south ireland, leaving them just with the capital. Couldn't capture it cause i would be excomunicated. After a few turns i went to conquer it, as my spy informed me that there was just 2 units in the castle. Ok, i send a small army, and very confidently i siege it. Next turn an Irish army far greater then my sieging one attacks and totally owns me.
Now they are heading to a whole island reconquista

Remember that you CAN stop building and invest in armies instead. Sometimes you may need to go for a few turns without a single building project to save or conquer a city. It will pay out in the long run.

Never played as the Teutons so I don't know about them but as KoJ in 5.1 Egypt appeared to mortgage the whole country to finance endless full stacks though the troop quality was low (H/H).

When I get back I might start a TK game. I thought VH/VH made he game a bit annoying because the AI abandons all rationale :hmmm:

That's a tough faction to play...

My guess is that the TK is a faction that you need to blitz with -- too many large enemies surround you, and it's a Late Campaign faction so no rebel regions. Sitting around for 30 turns is probably suicidal...

Yep its on Vh/Vh an no im not angry im happy bout it since its normal that u just sit back an Blitz the Ai but this time i didnt even try an blitz em i just took the first 2 rebel settlements that where near an thought i just would build up my eco first but all of the sudden novogrod goes bezerk on riga an i beat 4 full stacks then norway attack me in nykøbing an i have to beat him 3 times then he sails to my island in the middle an seige that an take it... but yeah TK aint easy they dont start with much

I've played 110 turns last two weeks (late era campaign, SS 5.1) so far on very hard/very hard settings and I'm about to be crashed by AI factions. Or at least they will seriously challenge me.

I'm playing HRE and own 32 regions including most of Hungary (still at war) and former Genoa, Venice, Denmark related regions. I' ve just captured Jerusalem and Acra in the Crusade called by the Pope of HRE origin.

Problems begun after landings in Holly Land where 3 stacks of my most elite and expirienced units were facing 14 stacks of Fatimid army. First phase ended by me capturing Jerusalem after 3 battles and Acra after blitz. I had to retreat my decimated 3rd stack to Cyprus (owned by K. of Jerusalem).
After that Jerusalem and Acra are constantly under siege, so far I've won 3 battles of Jerusalem and 2 of Acra.

Meanwhile back home, I've organized 2 more stacks of teutonic knights, spears, mercenary longbowmen and bombards and they are 2 turns away from Holly land. Jerusalem cant hold that long and it will fall next turn and I hope to retreat most of my units and best two generals I have. Acre will hold on.

But, real problem is France. They hold at least 25 regions and they have conquered whole Spain and right now only land border they have is with HRE. I knew there will be war between us but i didn't expect them to attack now, but they did. Right now I see 12 stack full of veteran units approaching Metz and Antwerp and I'm sure thats not all.

We were allies for 100 turns and I wanted to wait for at lest 20 turns more to back stab them, but they've done it first. All I have is half stack garrison in every fortress and city on French border. Most of them will be at full when sieges begin but i don't think it would be enough to fight off French hordes.
I have two stack of veterans fighting Hungary and i will move them to fight France, everything else is in Holly land and it will take time to pull some of them back. And I'm also at war with Greeks (week), Seljuk (very very strong) and Moors (didn't see them for a while).

Conclusion - this is the best game mod ever!!!

haven't tried them in 6.0 but in the 5.1 version yeah you have to blitz Novgorod and take Lit at the same time, best bet is get a alliance with Poland right from the start to safe guard your back and its all a blitzkrieg from then on, Made me feel like WWII rolling in that way lol.

Oh and don't go for Visby right away take care of your eastern problems first then go west young man.

I agree with you. After novgorod's attack on riga it's nearly impossible to expand somewhere. Near 25 turn I have got Visby,Kenigsberg and Upsala only Riga was conquered 3 times (2 by Novgorod and 1 my recapture). Novgorod's dismounted druzhina crushes all my infantry,generals die very quickly and I have only faction leader survived from the beginning

The Teutonic Order is one of those lucky factions at the edge of Catholicism. You have endless expansion opportunities to the East and SouthEast. First priority should be to get alliances with Poland, Denmark, Norway, and Hungary, then build up your units and take out Lithuania. If you let Lithuania stick around very long, they'll kick your butt. The units they can produce from a fortress are vastly superior to yours.

Novgorod's units, on the other hand, are really weak. Once you've done away with Lithuania, Novgorod should be a walk in the park. And late-era Kiev is probably the weakest faction in the game, they're designed to die off by around 1300.

The Battle AI is awesome, cool to see enemy cavalry flanking! When I was playing as England today, I lost both my Faction Heir and my King in same battle , but I won the battle cos the king died only about 10 secs befor ebattle ended

Well, I actually lost a few battles and lost a few cities... that has never happened to me before... Then again the enemy has much stronger units than me (them: hungarian me:byzantium) and just about the only thing that I have is spear militia, they must have some advanced city or something. At some point I sandwich them, attacking them from all sides but they still win, it's pretty frustrating sometimes, I think I'm going to regroup and try to take one of their advanced cities or something.

let me state a few things:

It's a rare occasion because most of the people when things start to go wrong, like loosing crucial battles, not having good generals, failed assassination attemps, just restart the game...
Of course it's very rare, but I find that is not that tough to loose at all, if you have a few house rules, like auto-resolving all battles...

Auto-resolve battles

I use to do that, but you miss out on alot of the fun. First you lose good armies than can be retrained, into a veteran army that you can really become to think of as your country men, not just nice textures. Also battle tactics are fun to practice with each faction. (you have to adjust)
There are other ways to make the game hard, instead of taking half the game a way from yourself.
