I was wondering, can Mongolian Horde be destroyed by plague? On my campaign, I secured Anatolia, Iran and Armenia from Mongols. They are stacking their armies on Georgia. I have my armies at Tbilis as well. War goes on. At that time plague came up on Trebizond, and spread across Erevan. Now I have and idea to bring this plague upon Mongolian armies. How can it be done? Can affected spies spread plague to armies? Or should it be my armies? Any suggestions?

Well, it can be hard to destroy them completely but definietely can weaken their militaty numbers and generals/family members. Yeah, use spies to spread the plague.

Thank you for reply. I will try spies. Their numbers are so great that a sneeze upon their one horse should reduce their numbers greatly

Pretty sure spies can only spread plague to settlements, not armies

If armies pass through infected cities or forts, they'll get the plague, but you cannot infect an army in the field with the plague...

Too bad. Then I will take city centre of the Mongol Empire. Then infect it and then leave it to Mongols.

That's an idea, but probably easier would be to identify one of your frontline cities the mongols are after, infect it, and leave one unit of spearmen behind so they'll go for it. I'm not sure if you infect one of the cities they already have, whether they'll pass through any of their full stacks ...

So here is my first empire. I'm on turn 30 right now, M/M, Early Era Campaign, Savage Ai, Permanent Watchtowers, Short Campaign.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
So, I play as Kievan Rus. I like their campaign, they seems pretty nice.

Now it's a bit more peaceful than some turns earlier, I'm waiting for the future attack.

    There's my diplomatics.

I started war against Cumans about 5 turn ago, and conquered some of their settlements. I have marriage alliances with Byzzies, (it's pretty new, two turns ago I get it.) and Poles.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

There are my fronts. First North Eastern.

You don't see it, but a bit more north there is coming massive Cuman army against Ryazan. They will be slaughtered on my gateway

Serdobinskaya was the most difficult to conquer, because Cumans did some kind of last stand here. They bring everything on range to defend it, and attacked against me. I won them, and I have retrained my troops here. Ryazan was conquered in next turn.

    Net is South Eastern front.

Sarkel was conquered in same turn as Ryazan, there was only a bit more troops in side. I auto resolved both. Azaq has been mine for a while now. My southern border is pretty secured because Byzzies are my allies. And Seljuks have huge problems with them.

And the Western front, both Northern and Southern are included in same pic.

I bribed Oleshe pretty soon in my campaign. And Zhytomyr was conquered in same time. I get Baia in my attack against Cumans, a bit later than Eastern settlements. Lithuania has send one spy in my area, he was killed somewhere.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I'm currently thinking where to attack next. I'm thirsty for more land, but I don't know where I will get it. I'm not going further East, because I never beated Mongols in vanilla. So, should I attack against my ally, Novgorod or Byzzies. Or even Poles. Poles are pretty far I think, and Byzzies are very, very powerful. If they get stronger in their wars against Sicily, Hungary, Venice and Seljuks, they will be unstoppable. I thinks that they might be beaten if attacked in right moment, but I have no idea when it comes. Hungarians are like poles, a bit too far. Lithuania is too pretty far, and they are at war with Novgorod. So I will bring them in two fronts war if I attack. I don't just have troops here, and my economics are pretty bad. I'm not losing money, but not also making it. And the Novgorodians helped me in war against Cumans, they tried to get Murom, but no success here. So will I anger everyone if I don't help them in war against pagans? So what you suggest?

Oh, and if I forget something, say me, I try to answer. And sorry about my bad english.

Ah the plague, I remember when a plague hit Naples I was able to spread it around Italy and keep it going for about 15 turns before my spies were cured and all the cities were too before I realised. Still helped me keep the Venetians down.

But back on topic ^ that sound like as good an idea as any, although it means you'll have to wait a little before retaking it if the plague hangs around.

Tha plague idea is no more an option. My cities are cleaned. So I will stick to old plan. Kill the Mongolian family members. I count 4 family members on map and 2 generals. I killed Faction Leader. 3 to go. I believe I don't have to kill Generals right?

Generals will turn into family members if they run out.

I had that experience with trying to destroy the Fatmids via assassination because i didn't have enough troops. They'll adopt new family members if they run low, you just have to keep assassinating them faster than they can adopt family members. You can tell when they've lost a lot of family members because A; you can't find many and B: all the heirs you spy on end up with the "Heir Presumative" trait.

There is a script that when a faction runs low on FMs, new ones are spawned.

Anyway back to posting empires, i seem to have developed a certain lag on my screenshot function as I only just got some shots I took weeks ago (issues with the setup meant that I had to uninstall SS and no longer have that save) but here's something from about midway through my Sicilian Empire:
The empire itself, my main enemy was the Fatmids and they gave as good as they got, eventually I conquered the Moors (who wouldn't) and settled back to slowly take all of Europe.
    (Warning, kinda crappy quality)

After the Pope called a crusade to retake Jerusalem the Fatmids suddenly found themselves in a bit of a pickle...

The most stupid thing to do would be to betray your allies now, doing so will result in your reputation going way down, making other factions more aggresive towards you. Do this and you might find yourself fighting a fourfront war within 10 turns. If I were you I'd go further east, and take out the Cumans. The Mongols will mostly go south into Kwarezhmian lands, and shouldn't bother you too much. Once the Cumans are gone you will be a superpower, and you can start thinking about other things, like uniting russia, or moving into Anatolia.

All that by 1161? Does whatever submod you're using start at the beginning of the 11th century or something? If not, that's very, very impressive! +rep
