Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

I also do not have the time to step away as the turns shift pretty quickly.

And for those who wonder: No I do not have a gamers PC, just a family PC with some of my own components.

    Watch TV.

Doesn't matter what it is, but it tends to be more exciting than staring at my diplomat who I forgot to move during my turn last turn stand around after being auto moved >.>

Watch soccer / porn. Listen to your fav music. Reconsider your strategy.

Think about strategies, read magazine/book or something.

Wow i can't believe that some peoples turns take so long that they have to do something else while waiting.

Mine only take about 15-30 seconds and i usually just watch the screen and wait. Maybe some of you guys have 'follow AI's movement' option on, making each turn longer?

    BTW my comp is mid-range.

I too surf the forums with my laptop while waiting my turn. Also I might watch tv, since it's a foot above my comp screen.

With follow AI movement on, we'd probably be setting up camp around our PCs to wait for the turn to finish (y)

Mine is midrange, so I'm not sure why it takes so long. Either way, its completely worth it. A great game with long turns is better than a mediocre game with short turns.

you can always press space to speed up enemy movement

I have follow AI movement on, and it doesn't take much more time compared to having it off. At least when you've pressed space to make them move fast. I've played only one campaign where I had it off. I like to what my enemies are up to.

    What slow down?

Q: Do you want a beautiful map and graphics for units or not. Not a single tester noticed any slow down, and none of use have a super pc, just decent video cards and upto date drivers for them.

I always have a novel or something on my desk for the times when RTW and M2TW used to drag the turns on my old PC. I can barely read 2 sentences with my new PC, but I keep it there to remind me of the good ol' days. At the moment its....The Bromeliad Trilogy. Mmm.

I am so fortunate that turns only take a few seconds even on my old machine (AMD 3400+, GeForce 7800GS XFX 256 MB). I suppose it is due to the relatively good graphics card.

I usually only have the problem of slow turns with mods running on scripts, like DLV. And you really can set up a camp fire during the time a turn takes then...

Though I'm not playing SS, whatever TW game I play during AI turns I have a book on the table and I read a small snatch of it every time there's nothing for me to do.

Just clocked the AI turn for the heck of it.
Late campaign with Khwarezm after turn 30, AI turn length varies approximately between 1:10-2:00

    My comp: AMD64 3000+(@2.2GHz), 2 GB DDR, X1950pro512
