I've had exactly the same problem. I have a RTW and BI and a range of their mods. Then yesterday, I installed Alexander, and then this problem started happening, which had never happened before.
I've now found a "cure" for it, as before, I played all my RTW things in a window, which required adding the "-ne" thing to the end of the shortcut. Now, by deleting all the "-ne" things, I can play all of it again, but not in a window. And whenever I attach "-ne" on again, it doesn't work. Strangely, Alexander still works in a window with the "-ne" shortcut on it, but nothing else does.
I have the same problem now. I never saw this before until I ran a registry cleaning program. Now when I try to start rome:total war it tells me i need to install lastest version of direct x 9.0. I have done this and dxdiag tells me everything is ok but my version of Directx is 10. I have reinstalled all the directx 9 programs from the microsoft website and nothing is working. SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!
I tried installing directx10 and it doesnt work either i ran dxdiag it still doesnt work
I was wondering if anyone knows of another forum that could help me with this problem?
www.totalwar.com and www.totalwar.org have support forums. www.sega has a support forum. Challenge all three.
