Default ?? about the difference between BI RTR and Reg. RTR

Howdy. I've been playing Rome for a long long long time. Pretty much since it came out but after a while it got old and I stopped playing. I had my eye on RTR but never really thought any mods were that great and just watched it for a long time. Well after I got back from Iraq I decided to give it a shot cause Med. II just didn't hold my attention very long and I really wanted to take legions into some great empire again. RTR is fantastic! It's breathed so much life back into the game that I'm more addicted than ever. If I read about a battle, or even come to this forum and see someone's post about their campaign or suggestions in there battles I want to play. So thank you.

My question now, is BI version any different than the regular one? Or is just a few AI tweaks and units that can swim across rivers but the game is the same?

If that's the case, is the RTR team planning on making a realism version of the time period that BI covers. BI was never quite as good to me as Rome but I think that's cause CA didn't put as much effort in. I think the RTR team could do wonders and that time frame would be very interesting to me. Rome split between East and West and barbarian horders knocking on the doorstep. Saxons, Britannians, Slavs, Vandals, Germanians, Goths, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Roxolani, Sarmatians, and so many more.

Then you have the Sassanids to contend with. I'd love to rebuild Rome's greatness but only if it was an RTR version. Just wondering if that was ever in the works or planned.

I have played both RTR with Bi and regular one. The main change is a bit smarter AI. It actually does sea invasions and knows how to use a navy (still that doesn't mean it won't start a war just by blockading a port..). There may be some changes in battlemap AI, but I can't remember this. It is a long time since I played RTR PE. But if you have Bi disk I would recommend to play RTR with it.

About the RTR in BI times. I don't think they will do something for this timeframe. I'm not a team member - they will give the answer themselves. The team is currently busy with the RTR VII, but this one will be for the same RTW timeframe.

If you want something similar to RTR, try Invasio Barbarorum (it's located here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=113 ). Thsi mod greatly improves gameplay as the RTR did, but focuses on the BI timeframe.
