Default Can someone explain new education?

First of all 6.0 is very nice (england knights look very good).

My question is about the new education system. So i made a second level universty and put my very young general there (its capitol btw) and after 5 turns he leaves with "bachelor of art" and in the old game he would of got capitol education. So can i get capitol education anymore and also does education now finish at graduate?

    Battletoads
When you start the game an event screen appears which explains education.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Characters can gain an education when they come of age either from Schools and Libraries, or from castles. How much they learn depends on their inclination towards Military or Adminastrative skills, and the quality of such buildings.

Some buildings such as a Military Academy, and some events like Heroic Victories will aid those seeking a Military Education, while having a trait like Scholar will aid those who seek further education from those settlements which can build Great Libraries or Universities.

While education is generally the same within the game, there are some difference between cultures. The greatest difference is off course with those who follow pagan gods, such cultures will gain far more from being out in the wild, than stuck up in classrooms.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So essentially the better the education buildings you have, the better the chances of a good education.

Certain historical locations will have the ability to build Great Universities or Libraries where the best traits can be gained, as well as some unique ancillaries.

Universities can be gained quite early on in the game, as historically some locations had them already.

so i guess once you have military academies
education in a castle is useless?

in 5.1 castles gave squire->knighted traits which gave invaluable movement points. Since military academies are in cities and castles no longer give that trait should we put every general in a city once military academies are built?

If so what happens when a militarily inclined general is in a city? Does he get both?

    All

Academies aid in education, you will still get education from castles. The Military Education trait has 4 levels to it, so the better training and more heroic victories you get the higher you go.

As to can you get both education types, yes you can achieve a basic level in both, as generals historically had such. However your inclination will mean that you will find it easier to develop one or the other.

(That of course might not be true for pagans).

Please also remember that this is version 1, so no doubt ther will be an update at some point, as one or two things did not make it into 6.0.

    Hey, in patch 1.5

it had new status now, it was "management" level

    did education affect "management" level?
Its easy to make war with others, its never been easy when we need a peace.

what if i want a my young general to become an expert in the military....what buildings do i have to build in castles to get this?
"we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

Yes, I am also wondering if the buildngs on affect characters edu levels while they are Fresh-Senior, or whether older characters also get benefits from hanging around in those cities?

    Education
Most academic education is done during the ComesOfAge to + 6 turns stage of the game, those characters which have the Scholar trait can proceed further. There is an option for older characters to get more, but you need good buildings.

Military Education can increased by heroic victories, especially for pagans. The aim is to balance it such that pagans have a better chance at great military leaders, but poorer chance of Administrative skills.

Military, Merchantile and Academic skills can also be increased by finding rare books.

As some of you may have noticed the education system now provides a good group of skill bonuses, so that rather than having many traits, I am aiming to reduce them, but provide better 'skills'. Gone are such things as GoodDefender etc as they are not used by the Ai in calaculating the odds are battle.

if i understand it correctly,a general has a chance of gaining military education he should sit in a castle or in a city with military academy ? is it correct ?
another question - is there any chance his education goes wrong ? I mean one can sit in a castle and get bad traits ?
last question - how can a general find ""rare books" ?

If you wanted to have the best 'general' then yes you would take a military minded character and stick him in a castle.

If later on you get a military academy then sticking him in there will also help (as will winning Heroic battles).

Can he gain bad traits through education, yes. Unless you wish to argue that all those who go to university fail to drink, rabblerouse, find girls/boys etc while there.

Books, well where would you normally look for books?

Sorry to resurrect an old/dead thread, but my question is sort of relevant.

Is "Bachelor of Art" the highest tier of education trait? Is there a masters etc?

I think the character also has chances to generate other character traits like Quark mentioned, but I mean the actual education trait. I can't seem to train my characters past that.

Far, far better to ressurect an old thread than start a new one on the same topic

There is a masters level of education, but it is only available from a Great University, or if you are a scholar. Each level of trait is quiet powerful, so did not want to make it to easy to get.

This is off topic, but while you are here Quark, can the poorlogistic trigger to changed so that generals holding a siege won't meet the condition?

Well the Byg trait kicks in when Supplies are at zero and not in own land, so not really sure if that is unfair, as you could swap out generals to reflect the arrival of new supplies.
