    Default Bad day for torture.

By posting this i might get a reputation for an anti-american. I would like to say i like americans, i just disagree with the current administration in Washington. Obama/McCain should/will change things. I dont think McCain would ever allow anything like this:

The Pentagon and the US media have been exposed for using pre-programmed “military analysts” to win hearts and minds of Americans over the war in Iraq, torture and detentions in Guantanamo Bay.
Kenneth Allard, an NBC military analyst and teacher at National Defence University, described the propaganda exercise as a "coherent, active," sophisticated information operation."
"Night and day, I felt we'd been hosed," he said.
The New York Times revealed that close ties exist between the Bush administration and former senior officers who acted as paid TV analysts on CNN and other channels. The analysts have received private briefings, trips and access to classified intelligence to influence their comments.

The Pentagon documents referred to commentators as "message force multipliers" or "surrogates" who would deliver "themes and messages" on command to millions of Americans "in the form of their own opinions."
Is this an acceptable "hearts and minds" technique? i find media complicity disturbing.

    Also,

The records of alleged torture victims have been lost at Guantanamo. Along with the videotapes of AQ members being "interviewed" last year. (see link ffi)

McCain will stop this crap right?

    Doubtful

Again, doubtful. American standing isn't reliant on a handful of people outside the country being mistreated. Even if it was, I'd gladly execute a dozen militants if it'd save one American soldier.

Hmm? If you really believe that the condoning and executing of torture by the US isn't damaging their international standing, you must be living in a shell. That international standing has been going downhill ever since 2003.

This has been going on for a very long time, which is why I laughed when General David Petraus appeared before Congress to give his testimony.

He CANT give his own true opinion, it would be insubordination, he had to parrot back the talking points of his superiors...his ultimate superior, the commander in chief.

This isn't really centered on torture, is it? It's more about propaganda use by the US gov't, concerning everything to do with Iraq/Afghanistan (more the former), not just torture...

Also, I don't believe any US president will stop torture. Obama, McCain, even if it were Hillary, I don't think any one would do it.

yeah I'm sure that torture was really pivotal in our war on terror. I'm sure it wasnt a bunch of ignorant rubes just having some fun.

But it's the awfull truth. Everyone always says that they want Obama to win and when I ask why nobody can answer. It's just that they expect something good from him cuz he is back. All of a sudden male whiteness is are bad traits, it's just lol.

White male = George W. Bush II = BAD.
At least that's how people seem to think here. Nobody really knows what Obama wants. He's black so he has to be ok, right?

youre just asking some dumb people if nobody can answer with something substantial. I bet they can answer, people just have a tough time thinking of something intelligent to say when theyre put on the spot like that.

If you asked these same people to take their time and write out their reasons for supporting obama, they will be more substantial and legitimate than when you just ask them out of the blue and put them on the spot.

When we discussed the American elections in school I was less than impressed. McCain (spelling?) was an because he's a male white . It was the same about the French elections. Apparently Sarkozy (spelling?) won becuase he was a man and not because the French aren't reds... Idiotic. We should vote for women and blacks because they are what they are. Not because of their politics. That's the message I'm seeing in alot of newspapers and hearing on the news.

Now I don't have a problem with Obama, I just have a problem with people who expect something from him even though they don't know a jack about him.

No, he's right. Hillary tortures everytime she gives a speech, and McCain hails from the party that popularized torture and made it a hip thing.

And also came under heavy fire from that party for condemning waterboarding.

    Remember?
