    Default Getting better performance.

Right now I can run the game at decent speeds with everything on about medium overall (unit details high cos they look pretty, but lowest shadows, medium vegetation, low grass, x2 anti analising, no bloom or reflections) on huge scale, and it only really lags once 2 or more full stacks are involved.

    Dual core Pentium, 3 ghz
    8500 GT 512MB
    2GB of DDR2 RAM

Since I'm cheap, I plan on getting another 2 GB of ram, as its the cheapest option. Would this really make any difference?

Past 1.5GB there's no difference, going from 2-4 would yield nothing. Maybe if you're using Vista, and playing other games eg World in Conflict, Stalker etc that can fold out at 2GB alone, but not with this.

Both your GPU and CPU are pretty week so looks like you need to save for a new system (S775, DDR2).
