    Default About Stealing Crowns...

So, I'm playing as England. It has been a few hundred turns, its like 1370 or something, and I have managed to take over the entire British Isles. I have eliminated Ireland, Scotland, and I'm 2 regions away from taking out France. My question is, how do you "steal" a foreign crown?

Do you need to have your faction leader take it? Can anyone take it? Because I have killed the French King , and taken Paris. I assumed that my conquering general would get the Crown of Charlemagne, but it turned out that the only thing he got was rioting and Comte de Paris. France is still alive, although very weak. I also have generals in Edinburgh and in every Irish settlement. I don't have the Scottish or Irish crowns either. Is there something that I'm doing wrong?

Any Advice? I'm getting regional ancillaries, but no crowns, from living or dead factions.

Edit: Also I have made sure to kill the factions leaders that currently have the crowns. So no foreign generals or faction leaders are currently using their crowns.

I don't think you can actually get the crown.

Ah, I was under teh impression from the readme, and some of the posts that you could steal opposing factions crowns.

You can get your king crowned by moving him to the other factions capital. Example: Move your English king to Edinburgh and leave him there for one turn.

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

Ah so it has to be the faction leader to steal other factions crowns?

Until the new faction leader goes and sits in the capital cities, I assume.

I wish there was some way to get the crown to automatically go to the king. My kings are usually too old to ever hope to make it to another capital without either taking half a decade or them dieing on the way. I once took Milan as Venice and it still wasn't an option to get the crown since the guy was 80 and moved like half a centimeter a turn.

true, I have been finding in 5.5 that the crown usually goes to some old man, most charachters dont have children till into their 30's or later, makes it hard to have a family

I knocked out Armenia as Byzantium, and have sat in Adana and Sis for 10 years with my faction leader. He has an open retinue spot, and has still not received the crown.

    I am playing 5.6.3
