Default Chinese-Americans in LA protests against Jack Cafferty's false and unworthy remarks about China!

Just today, I saw in the Chinese newspaper that about 5000 Chinese protesters in Los Angeles, California protested against CNN's Jack Cafferty's false and mocking remarks about China's goods and leaders. This is only the first of the many protests yet to come. China's people demanded an apology last month, but they were given one unsincerely. Now, China's government is demanding a formal apology. Jack Cafferty prepares to speak on CNN in the next few days.

    Read the news article here:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080420/...tv/cnn_protest

The Chinese around the world deserve a formal apology from Germany, France, and the USA! If those countries really do value justice, then apologize!

you can pry my apology from my cold, dead, lips

but seriously, why are they so uptight from some news guy trying for
    weak shockvalue and attention.
"World opinion" is a cacaphony of noise, even at the government level. There is no "world opinion" of over 6 billion people. People pretend it exists to try to reinforce their own biased viewpoints. -Senno

Lake Wang, 39, told the Los Angeles Times. "But what if Cafferty said this about other racial groups? I think he would be fired. I think he's jealous of China."
I agree with Lake Wang. If Cafferty said this about black people...Wang is right he would be fired. Wang should make a joke about Ireland to piss off Cafferty or they should have a head to head, Wang on Cafferty debate.

"Speaking about the U.S. trade deficit with China, Cafferty said: "We continue to import their junk with the lead paint on them and the poisoned pet food and export, you know, jobs to places where you can pay workers a dollar a month to turn out the stuff that we're buying from Wal-Mart."
"So I think our relationship with China has certainly changed," he continued. "I think they're basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they've been for the last 50 years."

Jack Cafferty ought to be fired. He abused "Freedom of Speech". He has freedom of speech as long as anything he says is not humiliating to others.

No, it's so that we can choose to say only nice things about them.

    See the difference?

Instead of being forced to say only nice things, we get to choose... but we still have to, wot wot.

Of course now I see the errors in my ways I'll never say anything remotely mean about any government particularly the liberal and giving Chinese .

ONLY if it is not true, which is not the case. He'd also have to be directly attacking a person, or group of people. He's not doing that, he is attacking China and their practices, which would fall under political speech, which has much more protection then wat u and i say to each other.

HAH! So your saying China's goods are junks. Fine, then throw away everything in your house that has a "Made in China" label on it out the window and it into the dumpster. It's definitly not true since 5000 Chinese in LA alone are protesting.

So because 5000 Chinese people in LA are protesting it means that all Chinese goods are not lacking in quality.
    Doesn't make sense.
There are bad goods from China. And there are great goods from China.
There are also bad goods made in the US. Not too big of a deal.

aww crap man why the hell are my people falling for this like hardline musim seeing a mohammed cartoon, this is ridiculous besides it just a lowly shock jock attempting to gain some attention. Besides this sort of reaction is what blood sucking creatures like them feed off to make them more reputable.

Being someone from hong kong, i know my fair share of chinese goods. They aren't as as most people make them out to be, most do their job fine for the price. As for the foods coming out....thats another story

As for that remark about Britain and U.S's human right being "very" far ahead then China....someone must have been living in the suburbs their whole life. Today yes but a lot earlier i don't think so.

Is this your personal definition of freedom of speech? It's not my definition.

Cafferty is a commentator on CNN, paid to express his opinion, raise ratings and do whatever else they pay him to do. He is not expressing a government policy.

I don't see anything in Cafferty's comments that are fundamentally untrue, however. They are over the top, I suppose. Not everyone agrees with your definition of freedom of speech or agrees that he should be fired for making such comments.

The Chinese in the US utilized their right to congregate and protest freely. That is fine. Can that be done in all of China?

FYI I have read the original article, and thus the quote you want read...

ok, what are the % of Chinese goods that are problematic.

if you can't come up with some satisfactory number to back up your generalization crap, then don't generalize.

"We understand free speech," Lake Wang, 39, told the Los Angeles Times. "But what if Cafferty said this about other racial groups? I think he would be fired. I think he's jealous of China."
Oh shut the **** up Lake. Why do chinese people seem to be so sensitive about this stuff?

    "He's jealous of China".

    "He's racist".

    Shut up.

I agree with Lake Wang. If Cafferty said this about black people...Wang is right he would be fired.
It's your oppinion that if a commentator said that an African nation's leaders were a bunch of goons/thugs and they sell crappy ****, he would be accused of racism? Doubt it.

    Alot.

Yeah Wang might be a bit sensitive, but he's got a point.

What's his point? That a guy criticized his country and, because China happens to be a different racial group (which had nothing to do with the comments), you see accusations of racism abound.

It's just like the "Racist whaling policies" accusations that the Japanese were throwing at Australians. Why is it that people are so quick to claim they are the victims of racism?

Jack Cafferty ought to be fired. He abused "Freedom of Speech". He has freedom of speech as long as anything he says is not humiliating to others.
Why? Because he *gasp* dared to criticize China? That's not abuse of Freedom of Speech, that's using it. Something the Chinese should learn about.
