Default MP CD key problem : no TYPO error !

    Hello,

    Since 2008 (must be the 2008's bug) I have a problem :

I can't play multyplayer (online) game. I have this error : "Invalid cd key".

I checked the typo with regedit and it is correct.

I contacted sega support and they gave me a second cd key and it didn't work. I re-installed the game and it worked fine. For one day only. The day after, I had the error again.

The support said it could be the firewall. I disactivated it but the problem persisted.

So I never tried again to play MP. Now, I have re-installed the game lots and lots of times, and I want to play online. The SEGA support did not help me well so I hope you will do more, because mp is important to me.

Do you know what it could be ?

    - It works then it does not works without any changes of the cd key
    - If I change the cd key with an other valid one, the problem persist.
    - If I reinstall, it could works for several hours.

Thanks for your help and sorry for my bad English.

    Regards,

    Floren

Did you use capital letters when entering the cd key? (if not then that would be your problem)

I don't think it's a firewall issue because I can get online through a router just fine and all I have done is added the game to my windows firewall exceptions list....but everyones' setup is different so I could be wrong :\

Yes, the capital letter is respected, and the "0" instead of "o" too, that's not the problem, I check a lot of times and I have two cd keys now

Sega support said the firewall may block the game and when the game is blocked it say "invalid cd key". And if you shut down the firewall, the game won't know and will always respond "invalid cd key".

So maybe if I knew where it stocks the information he have been blocked I could change that !

The fact the cd-key is correct, and it worked once makes seriously think its a security thing.
Either the port the game uses is being blocked, or the registry key itself (Anti-virus, lack of administration privileges, Vista UAC {User Account Control}).

    - Concerning the port, could you please tell me witch one is it and the protocol used ? (UDP ou TCP)

    - Concerning Anti-virus, there is none. (I am able to work without)

    - Concerning the Key, I have two keys with one from SEGA Support so I don't think this is the problem but I could try to find another key by asking a friend.

    - I have all administration privileges.

    - I work with windows XP.

I have a modem/router so maybe the problem is the port. With your response, I will be able to redirict the concerned port.

    Thanks for your help !
