Charging spears

I've noticed this on both ai and my spear units. When they charge they get really close then the first one or two ranks break away from the rest of the unit and continue charging while the rest of the unit either gets stuck in place or just walks forward. Also the unit never switchs off charge mode, they kinda just run into the backs of engaged cavarly and nothing happens..

This sometimes happens with normal infantry but its so uncommon with swords that it isnt a problem. I can't remember if this was in vanilla but is there a way to fix it??

It was in vanilla and its probably issue with the battle mechanics. Doesn't bother me to much. I use spear men for defense mostly.

It's an old M2TW problem that keeps happening.
I believe it's fixed in Kingdoms ( not too sure since I haven't really played it al that much), which makes me believe it will be fixed when BC ports to kingdoms for 2.0 (or will 1.1 be kingdoms already?)
