Launcher doesn't launch...

After doing an extensive search both on here and Google, I haven't been able to find a solution to my problem.

First of all I will post my system specs:

AMD 64 Athlon X2 5000+ @ 2.61 GHz
4GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 256MB (However it appears to be taking 1GB of sytem RAM aswelll)
320GB Hard Drive with about 125GB of available space
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit

I'm not sure if this should have been posted in the Vista thread or not but I have read every single post there with no solution anyway.

I have the Gold edition of the game and I installed it and everything ran fine. I updated Kingdoms to 1.5 and unpacked everything and still everything ran fine.(By the way, the gold ships with vanilla at 1.03 and Kingdoms at 1.04). But recently the launcher will not work and this means I can't play the Kingdoms campaigns since I can't directly launch the kingdoms.exe. Vanilla works fine and I can play Stainless Steel 5.1 perfectly.

Anyway, here is what I get when I try to launch the Launcher.exe:



When I click "OK" it exits and does nothing more but when I click "Cancel" I get this:



When I click "Retry" it exits and does nothing more and when I click "Cancel" it exits and does nothing more.

What happened to the shortcuts that are available when you install kingdoms?

Oops... I deleted them so it doesn't clutter the desktop. The only thing on the desktop is the recycle bin and the sidebar. I use the games explorer to launch games.

OK, I've tried disconnecting from the internet but I still get the same thing.

Uninstall and reinstall, but dont unpack.
