game becomes slower

as my empire grows(or maybe as turns pass)
I have 1 gb RAM.
Why can't the game keep it's performance at the beginning?(on map)

I mean I wait sooo long on other faction's turns...takes more than 1.5 mins sometimes for my turn

Disable all programs that are running on the background and you dont need, like virusscanner, backup schedulers etc.

Also I'd recommend another gig of ram to improve performance.

Also it is normal that the turns at the beginning of the game go faster than late game when there are more stacks and caracters on the map.

disable 'track AI movements', that will speed it up.
