pyrrhus died-decius survived
Then they retrain their army get a 7* generel where the **** do they come from god dam rebels

by 276b.c all generals apart from vibius cassius and lucius brutus survived the onslaught greeks conquer italy im left in aleria again wer do they come from???

anyone else had a similer problem?

never had that problem but i hate the AI for spamming itself full stacks of armies, personally its taken all enjoyment and strategy out of the game for me ,dont even get me started what i think of phalanxes on very hard, ive had superior archers lose more men to a brand new unit of enemy archers, it frustrates me so much and makes no logical sence.

i agree with the enemy full stacks they come out of nowhere oneday your
4 units of legionarys 2 archers 2 equits are invading somewhere it go's along nicely then a full stack army comes out of nowhere and ur beaten

Do you have increased bonuses on? You might try turning it off if you haven't and are having problems...

That's why I don't play with increased bonuses nor on anything over M/M. I'd rather easily win most of my battles and pretend that I'm some super-conquerer like Alexander than deal with frustrating, cheating AI. But that's just me.

It's an install option, it increases the AI's bonuses from their AI monument by 40. That is without increased (or with decreased more accurately) bonuses the AI gets a 50% discount on buildings, with increased bonuses they get a 90% discount, but only if they hold the city with their monument.

im playing with bonuses on and H/M diff, and game is smooth, challenging, but not frustrating. Got pwnd tho, Pyrhus gave me nice beating

AI bonuses off is most balanced IMO, they still do get bonuses to allow them to be a challenge, but can't field an insane amount of armies like with them on. Stil more, but the right amount.

Igree, Scutarii. M/M settings and bonuses 'off' offer a decent and realistic challenge. Even on M/M one big mistake (e.g. an important battle lost), can be a serious setback or even be beginning of an end. Also, on M/M I have time (and am in the mood) to invest into carrier of my diplomats (and diplomacy in general), spies, assassins and do some retinue micromanagement, instead of shaking off a crowd of armies each and every turn., which becomes disturbing at some point.
Furthermore, if you decide not to reload your game (after making mistakes) and give yourself no second chances, this adds to the challege and fun, because you have to do more intelligence and think twice before making big decisions.
Playing H or VH on battlfield and give AI skyhigh morale does not make much sense to me.

Nowadays, I am playing oftener on H/M settings. It seems fine overall, but be prepared for a "mother-in-low-minded" AI on the strategic map .

well i ave i bonuses of and i just invaded that little eqyption island and scouted the forests.

i start to siege the place with oen garrisoning unit then a full eqyption stack appears behind me nd wiped my smll forces out.

navy not possible considering theyve had no ports or ships the past 60 years as i crushed them all, nor was there even an egyption sip in sight, so i dunno how I decides to work anymore

They probably sneaked a ship by you. Ships travel large distances so they could've had one quite a ways away and gotten it to Cyprus.

I play M/M with full AI bonuses but I keep fow off and perfect spy on. I like to see how the other factions are doing. This keeps me from being surprised unless I get ambushed (evil little surprise in Britain) and I can react according to the computers movement. In my current Roman campaign I lost only a single land battle not against Pyrrhos but against the Carthaginians when I tried to Siege Hadrumentum with an understrength army and the enemy brought in reinforcements.There are still battles in which I suffer enough losses so my army needs replenishment and as Rome this is sometimes far away.

about the pwning - yesterday ive been besieged by Carthage in Capua, and they attacked right after, with gates open. Charged 3 elephants and 4 units of infantry through into my prepared V formation at the door (3 vigiles + 1 hastati). As we know this is somehow little bug in fighting engine (moving through gates, brigde, whatever) and units always rout even when superior by far. But the elephants went amok and started to swoop my city. I have tried to block their way with Vigiles in Schiltrom formation. Remember LOTR - Return of the king ? imagine how they elephant rampaged over the poor militia of 90 men in company, 48 were killed during one angry elephant attack

doesnt knowing what the enemy is doing utterly ruin taking chances and any real tactics?
