    Default Video Settings

Im running 1.5 GB RAM, AMD 64 Athlon 3000+, and a 512MB Radeon X1650 Series AGP card. I have my unit scale set to large and would like to keep it that way, but I want to know what I can do to relieve the little lag there is when I play large battles without sacrificing quality (my texture and unit detail are set to medium.) Is there anything I can do in Catalyst Control Center or on the video settings to optimize my performance.

Thanks and I appriciate any help.

Drop everything in the game to its lowest component, plus uncheck everything. Then slowly increase the important parts. I do not know much about ATI cards or the CCC, but you can also improve performance by tuning your computer before you run the game. Let me know if you need further instructions.

    Thanks for the help.

Also, what is V-sync, Bloom, and the Effects? What happens if I uncheck v-sync and bloom, and what differences will i see if I toggle the effects?

I would suggest you turning off V-sync and bloom effect also drop your shadows to low or off. shadows have a pretty big impact of performance, and they are not very important.

Ofcourse any Antialiasing and anostropic filtering will give you decreased performance, just incase you diden't know.

Use Fraps to see how your changes effect FPS.

V-sync locks the frame rate to your refresh rate to stop the image of tearing (usually only a slight effect you can ignore), but it also hurts performance, so it should be un-ticked/disabled. It can be forced off in all games in the CCC.

Bloom has to do with the bright lighting in the game used in the sky and on units, personal preference and whether or not you want the extra couple FPS.
Shadows are the biggest performance drainer and should be disabled on low end machines.

Don't expect much better, as thats the exact same card as I used to have. I suggest turning off the Catalyst A.I. though, as I found that caused sooo many graphical errors with MTW2.

i suggest you OC your video card. but be careful not to fry it. also, what i do is i turn off the shadows. (turn them off; not just set them to low)

Unless you know what your doing, I would highly suggest not doing this.
