MTW:Viking Invasion on Newer Graphics cards?

Is it possible to play the original MTW with a Geforce 8800?
I tried MTW: Viking Invasion in the past and the game CTDs early in the campaign, is there anything I can do, or is the game to old to play on a new video card?

As a general rule, yes it is possible to play the game on newer video cards, although you'll often have to figure out workarounds for them (changing the display settings, rolling back to older drivers, etc.).

That said, I'm afraid you yourself may be out of luck. Many players with the 8800 have tried all sorts of methods to get MTW/VI to run, but with no success. For whatever reason(s), that particular card just doesn't seem to allow the game to run, no matter what you do.

I had the exact same problem...I was able to start the game finally, by going to options and changing the strategy map resolution to 1280x1024 or higher, however the battles are messed up...characters are cut off and when you move oyur mouse over them they disappear, impossible to run a battle.
By changing the resolution I took care of CTD, perhaps you can find a solution to the battle map problems, let me know if you can find something.

I, personally, wouldnt mind just playing through the campaign without any battles. In fact, After RTW and M2TW I dont think I'd want to. I just miss the awesome campaign. West Saxons FTW!
