Default How to eliminate factions that are able to horde ?

    Hi all..

In my Sasanid Campaign, Lakhmids (spell?) are reduced to Palma and finally I captured it and they become a horde. I thought they were able to horde since I forget to kill their some family members who are out of Palma. Fortunately, they moved into egypt and took menphis.

Several years later I invaded egypt. But this time I killed all family members that are out side of Menphis. Then assulted the castle, but they again become horde.

So, question is how can I prevent them from hording and eliminate them ?

In the battle with their last settlement you must command it and make sure you kill all the family memebers otherwise they just spawn into a horde after the battle is over. Or if they are already a horde hunt down the family members. It is how as the WRE I systimatically pacified Europe.

Actually, I "think" a hording faction can horde even if all the family members are deceased. The somewhat oxymoronic technique to ensure a hording faction dies is to lose the siege battle...

    (1) Reduce to one ciry.

    (2) Storm city and kill all family members.

    (3) Retreat from the battlefield before routing the defenders.

The settlement now turns rebel instead of producing a horde.

    (4) Reseige the settlement on the next turn, and capture it.

Remember, onagers with flaming missiles are your best friend.

Well, I never had a horde emerge when I killed the last family member. I killed the Goths, Vandals, Alemani, Saxons, and Franks this way. Just make sure it is there last settlement you are sieging.

And I whole heartedly agree flaming onagers kick tail.

edit: I stand corrected. I just killed the last 4 Burgundi family members in a battle for their last settlement and afterwards a horde emerged. Funny though, it is the first time it has happened.

Even if I kill the last remaining family members while assulting the last city and I am sure that there is no other family member out of city, they still horde.

I experienced that the only way is killing all family members before they capture any city.
