Need help playing rtr platinum with rtw gold

I have tried about uninstalling and re-installing RTW Gold Edition about three times and RTRPE still doesn't want to work. The version of RTW I'm using is 1.4 (at least thats what the manual says) and I can't patch up to RTW 1.5 or BI 1.6 because the patches are aparently uncompatable with Gold Edition.

Can someone please tell me what I need to do to get this mod working?

Does your Gold Edition come in the form of a single DVD or separate CDs for RTW and BI?

whenever you buy a gold edition or package of something that comes already updated or you download your game from the internet you have to be careful because you may not be able to get the right patch for the mod you want. i would look in the games file directory and see if there is a downpatch option or patch removal of some sort. hope this helps

Doesn't the Gold edition have BI included?
So it will be installed all together (ie. no patches needed or maybe just 1.6)

I just looked at both BI and RTW. RTW is 1.5 and BI is 1.6, but I forgot to mention that the mod did install correctly and a message came up when i went to play it saying 'filename doesn't exist:'. There were some strange characters after that, but i cant remember what they were. And yes BI is included in Gold Edition.
