    Default Hezbollah Debate

Honestly, other topics seem to end up with something involving Hezbollah, so in order to spark a lively debate and to remove clutter from other threads I have decided to start this up.

Personally, I find them disgusting. It is absolutely unacceptable to lob rockets into civillian towns and going into nightclubs and killing a group of civillians and then they get angry when Isreal retaliates.

    Oppinions, thoughts?

Also, lets not turn this into an existance of Isreal debate ok? While its ok to bring that up in a point, lets not go out on a massive tanget on that.

Are you sure your not thinking of Hamas? The PLO admtitedly did lob rocekts into Israel though. i find it morally unaccceptable Hezbollah made the lebanon war grow to the scale it did, Sometimes its best to just bend the knee and to give up so that you suffer less casualties.

I believe its Hezbollah, it might depend on your variation of english, I know some things are spelled differently in the United States and England...

It is pronounced Khizballah, very simple though I belive very few in this forum can pronounce the Kh.

Actually its pronounced with a 'Ha" sound in Arabic. Though I think Israeli's slur it to sound like the 'Kh' in Arabic, like when they pronounce the President of Iran's name.

No.. it's Kh, like in Khalifa. Here:

It's stupid song, says "Hizballah" "Hizballah" "Hizballah" "resistance" "resistance" etc', but you can hear the Kh at the beginning. Also, حزب الله= Hizballah, ح - the first letter in حزب الله, remember that in Arabic the letters change, depends the order it is in the word - represent Kh.

No, no its not. Its with a 'Ha', I am quite certain of this. To use *gasp* wikipedia for the spelling.....حزب الله

As you can see, there is no dot about the 'Ha", so its not a Kha. I should know, I'm taking Arabic....

Ha is the other letter! It is this letter: .

The letter with a dot is Ch and without a dot it is Kh.

Indeed, or Chezballah, it is a harsh "HA"/"ح" like in "Ahmed", "Ahlan wa Sahlan" or "Rahman", it is harder for westerners to pronounce at the beginning of words, so an "a" is often added before it in transliteration, eg "Ahalal" for "halal", hebrew speakers make it have a slightly harsher sound at the beginning, but their pronunciation is far closer than the western soft "Ha" or "ھ" sound.

Words written in the Arabic script can be transliterated in different ways.

That's why we have al-Qaeda, al-Qaida, al-Queda, Usama bin Laden, Osama bin Laden.

On topic: I admire Hezbollah's goal, but I absolute despise their means. Launching Katyusha rockets into Israeli towns is not a way to make friends with the outside world.

    Enough of the translation issues.

I agree, forging a strong country is an admirable goal, but doing it by launching rockets and blowing up nightclubs is NOT the way to do it, what gets me angry is people who defend thier CURRENT actions.

Um, when have they ever blown up nightclubs?
