    Default Direct x problem

    Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone can help. Ive had eras for a while now and its always run fine. However, I recently decided to start a game of Barbarian invasion (having completed Rome ages ago, but never playing BI) and to my surprise it says it cant find Directx 9 or something! I tried each of the other TW games, and the same story. Even after uninstalling everything it still says the same after reinstalling. I even searched for directx and reinstalled that and still! Im thoroughly confused as I havent done anything as far as I can tell that would have cased this, and everything else seems to run fine.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Are you using Vista? Did you upgrade your computer or any hardware? If you run dxdiag and it shows directx 9c, then you should be set. Just uninstall, reinst the game(s).

    Hi thanks for the reply

No Im on XP, and according to dxdiag everything should be more or less fine. I also uninstalled everything and Ive just put medieval total war on. It now says it cant initialise direct draw, which is surprising as Ive tested that on dxdiag and it says everythings fine. I'll include the results for anyone techincally minded to have a look at. I cant undersatnd why though I know my rig is not the newest, but all the eras games have worked before on this machine, and it runs the likes of Dawn of War with full settings so I cant see it being a lack of graphical oomph. Anyway heres some stuff to pore over for people who actually UNDERSTAND tecchy stuff!
