    Icon6 RS: Barbarian Invasion?

Hello all, I would like to know from the developers if they have any plans to make a RS remake for Barbarian Invasion after RS 2.0 is done?

This would be really cool, imagine all the hordes bashing against the Western Roman Empire defences, the endless large battles against barbarians, every time outnumberd,... but now in RS style and not like crappy vanilla...

We could have a timeline from 400 AD to 550 AD, 4 turns a year...

The last thing I remember the RS team saying about what they will be doing after RS2 is that they don't know what there are going to do.

Many thread like this one have come up asking this question and they all finish with I don't know.

But maybe something new has come up. Who knows.

A cool idea, maybe a little unfair to ask more of the RS team than they are currently doing, but still a very cool idea.

Well first of all everything is a bit up in the air after RS2.0 -- how much of the team remains and what they want to do is uncertain. Some of us want to move to the M2 engine, some want to go back to modding the Shogun: TW engine, some, seeking a less taxing hobby, plan to destroy their computers and start chasing Norwegian whaling vessels and acting as human shields for our cetacean brothers.

However, dvk has expressed interest in a couple of time frames that aren't quite 'Barbarian Invasion', but are much later than the 3rd century BC. RS2.0 will be the last mod in this timeframe that this team will do -- which is why we're pulling out all the stops and improving every single aspect of it, from the map to the units to the battlefields to the traits to the music to everything else we can think of.

By the time we're done, we'll all be so burned out on Rome vs. Carthage vs. Celts vs. Successors that the very thought of modding a new Hastati or Levy Pikeman will make us run far, far away...

Thats understandable. What makes this mod so interesting and fun and all. Is the Team that makes it of course. Since its a small team people are fearing that they will disband and then there will be no one to continue the mod. The shogun engine will be very interesting to see as will M2 Engine.

Me personally. I don't want to see the RS team partly disband or a couple of them leave or the whole team leave. But that is not my call. But only time will tell.

    To the music
New music, hooray. On a more serious note, RS 2 will easely be enough to make us happy about the Roman era. If you are going to switch game/era then i would love if you made a "Etruscan era" mod with a map from the alps to bactria, but thats just me.

Crappy if both subjective and relative.
Subjective as what you find to be crappy is different to what I might find to be crappy, and we might rate different things to have different 'degrees' of crappiness.

Relative, as compared to RS, vanilla is crappy, but compared to many other vanilla games, it is not crappy.

I would think the RS team would be happy to take a well deserved break after RS2

Well, I have to say the RS team truly deserve a well earnt break after RS2. They've put in many thousands of hours of work on it. However, I am sad to think that this is the end of classical age mods for the RS team. I wouldn't really mind other eras, but classical is simply the best.

I think they're definately going to get plenty of rest, I'm sure we'll be playing RS2 for many months before we start asking for more.
