I want to install mods, but with steam it's damn near impossible. So I thought if I decide to get Kingdoms and get it retail that'd make things a lot easier, but will installing Kingdoms with steam version of 1.2 work?

Well I already have the core version on steam is the problem, so updating it with Kingdoms via CD/retail won't work?

Reikmarshal and Razuel are right. Go buy Gold, do a complete uninstall/reinstall to get it off your system, and have fun.

The reason to buy gold is the fact that the price between it and Kingdoms is next to nothing.

Oh I see what you're saying now. Well I suppose I'll finish the campaign vanilla on England first at least then get the gold.
