Default Forth Eorlingas! (AAR for Rohan)

This AAR will be written as a description of important events, similar to how in the back of the books (the trilogy) Tolkien lists what happened in 2978 Third Age and so on.

It may or may not be completely written as a fully fleshed out almost-like-a-novel description, at least at first, until I get a clearer idea what I'm doing.

The main army of Rohan is under command of the king's oldest son, due to the fact that the king is becoming too old to ride to battle personally and times are not yet so dire that he must do so. But he will control the other main part of the army. The third fraction of the army will stay on the border with Gondor in case of need.

Screenshots will be posted if particularly cool (or tragic) moments occur.

For Rohan. For the King. FORWARD!

    Default Year 238 (Winter)

Aldor, King of Rohan, frowned as he stared at the accounts before him.
The treasury of Rohan was perilously low, and there seemed little chance of help from Cemendur, after hearing the reports of both rebellion in the Reunited Kingdom's eastern holdings, the attacks by the Corsairs and Men of Harad, and what was worse...

    Orcs.

How could orcs have returned to Mordor?

He sighed. Nothing he could do to help at the moment, with the majority of the army of Rohan in the west under his son, Prince Baldor, in an attempt to finally end the endless border war with Dunland that had, despite a tenuous peace in the reign of King Eomer, slowly returned to what it had been for the first five hundred years of the existance of the Mark, until now, two hundred years later, it was as bad as ever.

    But no more.

Thanks. You have no idea how much that means from someone who wrote one of the best Tolkien-inspired bits of writting I've ever seen.

I probably will post much more frequently than you did with yours, as I have no life or schedule.

Writting a good AAR for Baldor's campaign is going to take work. As of this AAR, Dunfreca has been forced to bend the knee (about to fight the battle as I type this).

Riddermark spears are -much- better in open fields. That said, a cavalry charge versus Dunland will ruin their day.

    Comments? Suggestions?

Until I get an idea of how to describe it, the work of governing Rohan, while duller, is easier to write, so more time will be spent on it.

Its also what's taking up Aldor's time, and until he dies, he's the main character, so to speak.

    Default Year 240 (Summer)

Um, well, or not. Big battle to be described if I can do it. And Aldor died, so so much for focusing on him.

I feel like I should have kept my mouth shut (my fingers clenched?) about writting an AAR for Rohan. I like the idea, but describing stuff...not so much.

As of this post, the AAR is on hold, though my actual play is not.

Note: Dunland fell in the the winter of the year 263.

Conclusion: Dunland being "Men of Darkness" makes holding on to it a little too difficult. I understand this is partially reasonable and partially unavoidable, but it means that Rohan has a harder time expanding and benefting from that expansion than Gondor or Adunabar. (Gondor having the easiest time after the initial few fights)

Pretty good so far. Different style of AAR, but it looks like it's working. Keep it up!
