Default Problem with 7300 SE/7200 GS

I have just got a new system built with the aforementioned graphics card.

All the drivers are up to date and whatnot.

Yet whenever I try and start M2:TW, it crashes at the splash screen with an unspecified error.

    My system is

Intel Pentium P4 Dual core, 3 Ghz
    nVIDIA 7300SE/7200 GS 512 MB, PCI-E
Asus P5LD2-SE Dual channel, dual core motherboard
    2GB of DDR2 RAM

I don't suppose anyone has had the same/similar problem, and knows how to fix it?

You using Vista? Do you have sound on the computer (and can you hear it)?

No, I'm using Windows XP Professional SP2.

    And yes, all sound works.

Is time to change those card, for less than 120 euros buy a ATI HD3850.
As you said is a new system ,any problem with another game?
See if you have a motherboard drives installed, many peoples care about VGA drivers and forget the chipset ones.

Ironically enough, it is a brand new card that cost me a pretty fortune in AUD.

Yes, I'm having problems with every game I've tried (Oblivion, COD2 & 4), which ran better on my old AGP system. Strangely, Battlefield 2 actually works better.

Go to Nivida and download the latest drivers, be sure to uninstall the current drivers first. I have read that the 7200GS is either 128MB on board or 256MB on board and they only cost $40 US dollars. It is very low end compare to the system requirements of the game.

The 7300 se, is the lowest possible card you can have to run the game according to the games system requirements.

Also the 7300 se has been known to be a problematic card. out of all the 7300's you have the weakest and the most incompatible. which makes me think it was not thoroughly tested with this game and many others.

If you have the latest video card drivers and directx version, the only other possible cause i can think of is a power consumption issue. is it possible for you to test this card in another machine ?

I might mention that even if you did get the game to run with this card, the quality of gameplay would be very low, i would recommend an upgrade if at all possible.

Considering I got told the card in my PC was 512 MB on board (a 7600GS, although control panel and whatnot are telling me that it isn't)... I think something has went astray somewhere along the line.

So thanks so far guys, although I think the problem is a whole lot bigger than it first seemed.

no its using turbo cache you have 256mb of local ram and another 256mb of ram pulled from your system ram.

I ran ME2TW on a 7200GS, and it runs fine, get the latest drivers of course though. Also run driver cleaner before you install the new ones. Also keep everything low, because your card is about as fast as the FX5600 is.

Actually, with Turbocache the cards typically have 16-64MB of onboard RAM, the rest is swapped out between system RAM.
The process is quite fast and doesn't take away from main RAM like integrated Intel chips do.
Either way it's slow as a turtle

    Well, thanks anyway guys...

...but I ended up shelling out for a 8500GT, which has no problems at all (y)
